We Reek Of Barbecue

What's harder, passing out tracts in a mostly black neighborhood subway hub and talking and praying with them, or passing out tracts on a busy main street in koreatown, and talking with them and praying? The Koreans and everyone else there - we don't even speak their language, the words "good news" mean nothing to them, like "water" meant nothing to the waitress last night. I spoke with almost no one, today. There was the saleswoman that Dan and I were talking with... oh then there was the Jehovah's witness. Hehe, we kept that JW busy. We kept his mouth shut - good work everyone! :P Jamaica station wasn't hard - in fact it was amazing. Here in Flushing, Koreatown, i was stretched.

It was cold, too. The library was warm. Man, i picked up 3 cd's, off the ground. 2 are the same. Yo, that saleslady, i got her to read the tract by asking her the English words that the tract was written in. So sneaky ;) Dan and I found out, she had a few vital misconceptions about what Christianity means, which we tried to clear up quick, and y'know, she was nice about it, but she had to go back to selling, since her boss was coming. She'd wanted to know which church we were with, and i said none in particular, we were from all kinds of Christian churches, and we were a college group.

Mmm... i'm getting sleepy. It's 4:30 and we just ate Korean BBQ down somewhere else near Flushing. It was great! They basically give you raw meat and you barbeque it right there, in this little inset in your dinnertable. I had so much. I had the squid tentacle, the tripe, and lots of other more mundane meats + vegetables like beans and wings. I was really impressed with Brendan; he took the raw fish and cooked and ate it all (except the bones and gut... and the head, which Dan took, and ate.)

So everything was so satisfying and this week's been such a stretch. Later today we're gonna do mass cleaning and packing, starting at seven i suppose. Till then, it's chill time, and we're napping now. Except for me. Oh i dont think i ever said anything about our host Dave. What a guy. Loud, outgoing. A big burly type of guy. Joyful, cracks jokes almost as bad as Byers. His son who's 14 is cool too. He's serious when a job needs done, and passionate about God's word and God's work. And the man can sing! Man, can he lead worship. Preaches almost hellfire. Doesn't compromise, and doesn't take crap.

8:17 - after worship, during evening message

Wow. i dunno, i got a word from the Lord today during worship. i was turned step by step and led systematically to this specific verse, I Thessalonians 5:19, against all probablility, and almost against my will. And it was exactly word for word what i needed, on every level i could think of. How awesome is God!

He's way past just singing songs. everything inside him just rushes out like some massive river thing. And now he's speaking about the mercy he's been dealt, about his son, and the prophecies regarding that. There it is again. Man...
