Golden Goose Today! 6762

12:42 pm
MOOD: at the moment, half-embarassed. generally good, though.
MUSIC: She's So High (Tal Bachman)

Embarassed, cause i got busted for Sports-In-The-Hall just a minute ago :-D It's that back to back lazy afternoon hours between chapel and third period, CS 112 (Intro to Programming), and Brian and i were kicking the soccer ball around pretty bad, knocking it against the far walls, and i guess our RD Sandra heard it, and well, I got caught ball in hand. Sigh. Sandra's cool though. I think all I'll have to do is like some work project for her, or something.

And how cool is this: We don't have New Testament today, cause Dr. Hunt is out doing something else, which means after this class i get to come back here and be dumb from two for the rest of the night! and tonite: GOLDEN GOOSE!!

Man, that was MAD fun!! I was searching around all day, looking for some sort of pink shirt to wear to this thing, cause that's what the freshmen were all supposed to do, was to wear pink that day. So Jenn helped me out, actually it was Katie's shirt, and it was only a Large but it fit good.

Finally I got to the GOLDEN GOOSE!! Alright, to all those who don't know, the Golden Goose is THE annual event of Gordon College; it's a uproarious comedic all-guys talent-show variety-show type night, where 4 nominees from each class compete with talent and wit to make us all laugh. The turnout was great at that show; more than like twice the attendance of any given chapel. It was basically standing room only. We came in and the music and baloon type decorations just really set the mood. Stuff like Green Day and P.O.D. was playing, and they had a big silhouetted goose projected onto the front walls. Steve Granz and I got front-row seats, right behind the judges and right up against the catwalk, and then the lights went down and it began: Katie Porter and Jim Lowe (co hosts) came out doing a messed up version of the Elephany Love Medley from Moulin Rouge, except "we could be lovers" and stuff was turned into "we could be co hosts.. just for one da-ay ././" :-D I approve.

The stuff was good. We had some lip-syncing dance acts, to music like Kung Fu Fighting, and some other stuff, and there were the 'question and answer' things, where the 4 contestants from each class respectively came onstage; the juniors were dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the seniors as ballerinas. They answered questions like "if you could date any guy on campus, who would it be?" and dumb random things like that.. The acts were great. Each contestant had his own intro video. They usually were pretty hilarious, stuff like "Lord of the Goose," and of course "My Favorite Stop is Wonderland," (for those who aren't from Gordon, that's the rail stop closest to Gordon.)

Alright, so Ed Rand got up and did a stand-up comedy act, and i was impressed, that guy is good! He could make a career out of it, i think. There was a group that did "It's a Hard Knock Life" from Annie, a group that did a song from "Newsies" which by the way, i have never seen but now i want to see it! It looks so great! Okay. I will write more as i recall it over the next few days. But wait! I must elaborate on what happened as a result of the balloons there. See the chapel has lasers up on the top of the chapel, and they detect smoke, so a balloon went up and cut the beam, and our sold out show had to be evacuated for a half hour, while Public Safety went around and checked to see if anyone had been tampering with the alarms. It was hectic. It was in the middle of questioning the seniors! It was cool. We went back in a little later, and picked up where we left off, and twenty minutes into it again, the alarms sounded, cause of another balloon, and boy was everybody ticked, but guess what it was okay!!! It was okay cause they knew this time that it was a balloon, and the Golden Goose show proceeded as normal.

There was a lip-sync to Men in Tights, I Just Can't Wait To Be King, there was SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING!! that was the best thing, ever!! it swept the competition away! These four guys in swim outfits got in these trash bins and did a synchronized swim to this classical music, it was a riot! Okay.. I think that's all i can remember because now i have to leave, go do a computer project.
