Drift fishing or "chuck and duck" fishing as it is often reffered, is the most effective way to catch Great Lakes salmon and steelhead.
Flyfishing for Great Lakes steelhead and salmon requires a long fly rod(9-15ft.) and a strong, smooth disc drag reel.  You should also have a WF floating flyline or running line, plenty of dacron backing, and terminal tackle(i.e. swivels, beads, floats, slinkies, etc.)
