THE FORLAN FILES
The goals are out there...somewhere.

DIEGO FORLAN. WHERE DO WE START. Firstly, every player deserves their chance and rightly so...lets not forget the chance Sir Alex gave Taibi (2 games or so he was sent packing).
Diego Forlan was another classic example of how the greedy Man United managed to snatch a 'world class' talent from under the noises of another premiership club, Middlesborough who had spotted him, and who, it was clear, needed a striker more than Man United (though on this seasons performance maybe not.) Man Utd waved their cash, and in came the 'magic' Uruguayan. Now the mystery here is, he showed true class in the world cup...great goal (which equalled his overall tally for Utd) and touches of class. Maybe we have to blame the team or club then???
Anyway, Forlan certainly got his chance. 550 first team appearances for Man United plus 97 off of the bench and he still couldnt bag a goal. But as we kept getting reminded, he scored that oh so vital penalty against a side, barely in Europe named Maccabi Haifa. Well, he won them the game didn't he? No, he only took the penalty because they were 4-2 up. It was even claimed that Roy 'have another ban' Keane refused to let him take a penalty against another unknown side Man Utd managed to lose against in the Champ's League qualifiers. Yes, Qualifiers.
In came the guy with the Lawrence Lowelyn Bowen haircut and he set Old Trafford ablaize! Wonderfull perfomances against a whole number of teams ensured he became a fans favourite...especially with one man, Clive 'I love Utd' Tyldesly who seemed to think it was such an achievement to score a penalty after 58 or so hours on the football pitch. Well, it seems that he has FINALLY broken his duck by scoring against Aston Villa but we keep hearing he will 'score loads once he gets his first' We'll see. All we can be sure of is that Mclaren must be very happy he signed Maccaronni. Sir Alex actually did him a favour.
