Corydoras Panda

Corydoras Panda is a very very cute fish. It's my favorite of all the Corydoras. The spend all day busily rummaging in the gravel. They are very good at cleaning uneaten food up, especially if you have messy eaters like adolescent fry. This can prevent excessive ammonia emissions from uneaten food. Fun to watch and very functional, they are probably the best aquarium fish I know of, when used in conjunction with others.

Attributes: Cory Pandas are probably the least skittish of the bottom feeders. They go everywhere, ignore all other fish, don't care much about light, and they like, but don't confine themselves to, caves. They are very busy, but don't worry if you see them laying about in the gravel. They tend to go through cycles of rummaging and resting, the cycle length can vary greatly. If, however, they don't move at all, you have a problem. Usually, in times of stress, cories will show dark lines along the edges of their "armor." It'll look like they were dusted with the powdery stuff from coal. This can be from being alone, or some sort of irritant, like parasites or bad water.

Care: Cory pandas are very simple to care for. They will clean up after fish if some food is missed, and will chew on an algae wafer dropped in either for them or any other fish. They should not be treated with malachite green as they are very sensitive to it. They also don't like salt much, but will tolerate a teaspoon or 2 per gallon.
