Acadec is for those people who enjoy learning (not necessarily school-work
though.) We work in small settings on something that interests you. I can say
that we will work on something that interests you with quite a bit of
confidence, because in Acadec we learn a little about everything.
The theme this year is “Understanding Others” with emphasis on
Philosophy, Psychology, and Religion. In the Language and Literature section, we
are reading Frankenstein as well as six poems to study. The theme for
mathematics is “Gateways to Logical Thinking.” Science will involve
Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, and Immunology. The focus of economics will be
in individual enterprise. The music theme is “World Sacred Music: Sounds of
the Soul.”
Now I would like to explain how the team is divided. In Acadec, there are three
divisions: Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity. Honors students are students with
and ADGPA of 3.75 or higher. Scholastic students have a ADGPA between 3.0 and
3.75 and Varsities are under 3.0. Your ADGPA (Acadec Grade Point
Average) is the average of all your ACADEMIC classes on a 4.0
scale for the last two years. This means Jr. High grades count for Freshmen and
Sophomores. We need Varsity members! Most people who join Acadec are Honors
competitors. In order to have a full team, we need three Varsity members. So, if
you have less than brilliant grades we need you even more!
If you are interested in learning about anything and everything and having fun
while doing it, Acadeca is for you. Email us at [email protected]
