SHS '58 Reunion
25th Annual Buhl Day
Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2004

Buhl Day is the Sharon area's annual (since 1980) picnic in the park on Labor Day. Buhl Park is the 300-acre Buhl Farm in Hermitage. It was among the myriad philanthropic gifts to the people of the Shenango Valley from turn-of-the-century Sharon industrialist Frank H. Buhl and his wife, Julia.

Buhl Day is an annual family event in tribute to the Buhls and to the spirit of their gifts to the working man. The event also recognizes selected individuals whose activities make them honored members of the community. On Buhl Day, every section of the park will be filled with activities and food booths of all kinds. Numerous events are held in the community throughout the weekend. You can view year 2000 and prior years' Buhl Day reports by visiting the Sharon Herald Buhl Day coverage.

In 1998, when it became apparent that the Class of '58 would be unable to hold a formal 40th reunion event, Sandy (Stasey) Fields suggested that the Class of '58 meet, informally, on the porch of the Casino at Buhl Park on the afternoon of Buhl Day to renew friendships.

This year, attendees included Jim Winger, Alan Maierson, Bob Gilliland, Bob Spondike, Karl Kosinski (left before the picture), Carl Moses, Rose (Garcia) Thomas, Judy (Klein) Valdine, Norma Erb, Carol (Erb) Missik (left before the picture) and Peggy (Loesel) Hines. A photograph will be added to this page soon.
