Cap Shape: Ranges from 1/2" to 4"inches wide, cone shaped for few hours of life, tehn becomes a convex-flate-and finally edges uplift forming a bowl shape cap, will have umbo and has sticky protective film Cap Color: Varies White with gold center to overall light brown with gold spot, Shroom becomes translucent when exess water is absorbed. Then will appear a dark olive color and will dry to a yellow rust color still retaining oragne to gold spot. Gills: Are closly spaced Gills Colors: Light brown when the shroom is young then becomes a black/deep purple with maturity Stem: Will be 1.5" to 6" tall and up to a 1/2" thick, Will also be hollow and fibrous Stem Color: Generally white(our at least lighter color then the cap) ***Usually will be a ring of tissue hanigng on the upper portion of the stem(veil) Shrooms Flesh: : Usually is white, has little odor **inside the flesh of broken stem will usally yeild the gasted blueing reaction Veil: Will be purple and sometimes falls off with age Habitat: In pastures located on cow dung; best location in fields are located under trees or near fence lines |
