About Voice of Hope

Mission & Purpose

Voice of Hope Ministries exists to provide children living in the neighborhoods of West Dallas with strong character models, education support, life skills, and family support services needed to become productive Christian citizens. Inner-city families are equipped with resources and skills needed to overcome and break the poverty cycle. The ministry seeks to meet the needs by addressing the whole person - spiritual, physical, and mental - through training, mentoring, exposure, emergency assistance, affirmation, counseling, networking and partnerships with other community agencies.

Christian Community Development

The main goal of Voice of Hope is to reveal the love and character of Jesus Christ to the West Dallas area through service. Our desire is that, through the demonstration and proclamation of the Gospel, many will come to know Christ personally and Christ-like leadership will emerge from the community. As we concentrate our energies on evangelism and discipleship, we believe the Lord will raise up indigenous leadership to continue His work at Voice of Hope.

West Dallas

West Dallas consists of a melting pot of new immigrant families and a core of families who have lived in the area for several generations. It is the 11th poorest community in the nation with over 45% of the residents living in poverty, 88% earning less than $29,000 per year, and 75% of the adults lacking a high school diploma. There is a high rate of drug abuse, early sexual activity, teen pregnancy and gang affiliation.

Approximately 45% are African American and 52% are of Hispanic descent. There has been a significant increase in Asian residents in the community as well.

The youth program participants of Voice of Hope are less likely to be involved in drug abuse, early sexual activity, teen pregnancy or gang affiliation, but they are three times more likely to pass the TAAS test, stay in school and experience academic success.

The 2001 Pinkston High School Valedictorian participated in the Voice of Hope SAT and Work programs.

At Voice of Hope, we are changing lives one child at a time!
