| Demo Reviews: Maximum Rock n Roll #231 - August 2002 Showering Ashes plays slow to midtempo hardcore, the kind of hardcore that they listened to the evil metal before they found punk and are combining the two. The vocals are gut wrenching scream style. Heartattack #35 - August 2002 This band has a lot of potential. This rough recording has some progressive hardcore with very conscious lyrics. Nice stuff. Beauty at the Price of Vanity 7" Reviews: Maximum Rock N Roll #235 - Novemeber 2002 Showering Ashes, who are from Iowa, hammer through five songs of dark angry hardcore. Driving metallic guitars lead the way as the vocalist howls away about the failure of the American Dream. The songs vary in speed from up-tempo to chugging and gloomy. The recording has a touch of rawness to it, which enhance the overall feel of the tunes. Good stuff. Heartattack #36 - November 2002: Showering Ashes plays very heavy and intensified hardcore. Their style is like From Ashes Rise, but with a more raw, ameteur, and fuzzed out recording. The five songs on theis 7" are all solid, though sometimes a bit to droning for my own personal taste. Most lyrics deal with something outside of them they are fed up with. I especially liked the one that dealt witht he end result of America's current momentum. |
