Our MissionTo help relieve the suffering of homeless persons in America, regardless of gender, race, national origin, religious conviction (or lack of), or any other discriminating factor. We exist to distribute bibles, blankets, clothing, personal supplies, and other necessary items to as many homeless persons as supplies will allow. We are committed to spreading the peace and love that Jesus Christ commanded of His people, and demonstrated by a living example.
Company ProfileShout for Joy Ministries was founded in 1998 by The Reverend David Bridges. In traveling across the United States he discovered how widespread homelessness is in America. Recent government studies indicate that there are at least 600,000 homeless in America alone. Every major city, and many smaller cites have sizeable homeless populations. Visit Rev. Bridges' home churches at: www.geocities.com/woodburyivybluffumc/ The mission began with no budget and no supplies. The first blankets came from the closets of Rev. Bridges and friends. Bibles were obtained from rummage sales and used book stores. Later, donations of blankets from Wal-Mart and Holiday Inns, and bibles purchased new by donors, made it possible to expand the mission. Now, churches and civic groups from all over America are supporting this lifesaving ministry. In 1999, we distributed nearly 1000 blankets and bibles in eight (8) U.S. cities: Huntington, WV; Atlanta, GA; Beaumont, TX; St. Louis, MO; Clarksville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville, TN. In 2000 we are returning to most of these cities. See the news pages for recent missions and information. We have also expanded our ministry to include coats, clothing, shoes, shelter kits, and personal hygiene kits. Special thanks go out to the donors that made it possible for Shout For Joy to own its own trailer (we had been using rented trailers for the mission trips). Now the trailer can be outfitted and stocked for dedicated ministry to the homeless in America. You may help support this mission by contacting Rev. Bridges at:
