I believe that animation is an art form (however frequently abused). It incoperates writing, set design, character design, acting, and character animation. Every animated TV show or movie has a cast. The cast usually has one, several, or many characters who are opposed to the protagonist. These are the villains. The are an essensial part of the story. They give it interest (who wants to watch the hero set out to do something, meet with no opposition, and come home again before lunch?).
As a form of art, comics, animated TV shows, and animated movies reflect the nature of human beings. If there is power to be gained, most will want it, and some will try to gain it by the wrong means. If someone sets out to accomplish something, someone will disagree with the goal and try to stop it. That is where the villains come into play. Often, they are used to show us sides of ourselves.
This site is for people who have found they can relate to these antagonists. It is also for people who want to understand them. How could the X-Men's Mystique throw her kid off of a bridge to his death? I may not know the answer, but Mystique's life intrigues me.
I like the good guys too. I don't think I could appreciate a series' bad guys if I didn't like the good guys to start with. But the good guys usually end up on top, and the bad guys are underappreciated (sometimes, that's why they're bad). So I made this site for fans of the villains to share their fan works, thoughts, questions, and answers.
