MERIDA
Merida, Venezuela is located in the west part of the country.  Merida is surrounded by the beautiful Andes mountains that I had the opportunity to see every day! The weather there was to dream for. It was about 70 to 80 degrees every day with well great (notice the sarcasm) rainfalls just about every day.  The nights were great for going out and having a good time! I did plenty of that...Anywhere on the streets you could find a number of great places to go to...such as restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes, and stores.  I noticed one thing about Merida and probably all of Venezuela...they have plenty of pharmacies and shoe shops.  I could buy a pair of shoes any corner and get any kind of prescription also..   Merida is what you consider a college town.  The majority of the population is students from everywhere in Venezuela and other countries.  The college is called La Universidad de los Andes or better known as ULA.  ULA has three campuses...Barquisimeto, Trujillo, and Merida.  The population of all three campuses is 35,000 students.  Its one of the best colleges in Venezuela.  The wonderful part about it, is education is free there so many young people have hopes to go to the university.  Merida is considered one of the most tranquil states and cities.  Most Venezuelans move there because of that very reason.  Meridians are super nice as well.  They are old fashioned people with the same beliefs and values from generations ago.  Merida holds a special place in my heart and I loved every minute of it even during my great busrides! Where else can you get a busride for about 10 cents? Its probably the only place I would consider living in Venezuela...just love it what can I say?
