| Ode to Plaza Belen...This is the name of the area where my friends' apartment is located. Amanda and I spent A LOT of time there...it was probably our second home right before Birosca:) The occupants of this home (that sounded so formal...lol) are Edward, Tony, Jorge, Carlos, and Julio. Through the years many people lived there...in the beginning of our trip, Eduardo, Julise, and Beatriz and her daughter Ivana lived there but they all moved out before we left. Ivana lit up the place with her gorgeous eyes...you'll get to see those soon enough. I can't count the many times Amanda and I took separate taxis to their apartment because well they live really far from us! I spent so much money on those damn taxis! Amanda loved those...More about that later. Plaza Belen wasn't the best spot of Merida but it was fun to go there and talk to the guys all day or night right before we would go off somewhere. It was the meeting place for all of us. I spent many hours on their great balcony too. It overlooked the plaza with all the kids playing and people walking around...I especially don't miss the guys' catcalls to the women...Carlos even made it a point to make a sign that said HOLA! to every girl that passed by...BOYS! We had serious talks on there and well goofy moments too. I'll never forget the great times there or even when Carlos would wipe his wonderful snot on the walls too...sounds gross but when I think about it I only laugh. I'll soon be back there... |
