HANSHI, CHOSHIN CHIBANA (10TH DAN)

Hanshi, Choshin Chibana was the best student of Itosu Anko. He is called as �The father of modern Shorin-Ryu�. Chibana Sensei named his system as Kobayashi (Shorin) Ryu. He was the first 10th dan in Shorin-Ryu. He achieved many prices and honours for his great work for the development of Karate. He lost many of his promising students in the II World War. But before he died he promoted five of his students to 9th Dan. They are Yuchoku Higa(Shorin-Ryu Kyudokan), Chozo Nakama, Katsuya Miyahira(Shorin-Ryu Shidokan), Shugoro Nakazato(Shorin-Ryu Shorinkan) and Kensei Kinjo. Ankichi Arakaki(1899-1929), Seitoku Ishikawa and Katsuyuki Shimabukuro were also Chibana's students. Yuchoku Higa was the �Uchi Deshi� (Live in student) of Chibana Sensei.
