The Thunnus series has been built from the ground up with heavy saltwater use in mind. The aluminium/graphite body, aluminium rotor and machined alumium spool are desiged to improve corrosion resistance and remain rigid under load. The waterproof front drag system, is designed to prevent "salt and minute particles" from entering the drag system while allowing smooth control of fast running species.
The Thunnus features Shimano's Baitrunner technology, titanium coated roller guide, Aerowrap line system for perfect line lay, Fluidrive gearing and drive train system combined with a Dynobalance rotor make this one of the top reels on the market. The 16000 has 6 ballbearings and weighs 31 oz.
