I bought the car from the original owner on June 10, 1996 with 83,000 miles on the odometer. Was in tip top shape and still is. As far as performance, everything is pretty much stock. Had to replace the fuel pump about a year after purchasing and opted to go with the 190 LPM (?) from the sho shop but without any other modifications, I have not really benefited from it unless my stock was one of the 60 LPM pumps that several SHOs received. I removed the stock airbox cone. It is at the Ford Stealership right now getting work done. Including: Crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, water pump, timing belt, valve cover set, spark plugs, and spark plug wires. Hopefully she will be ready to go in about a week! I have been without her for about 2 and a half weeks and it has been hard. I did paint the TAURUS SHO on the door panels and the SHO on the rear bumper black. Tires are 215/65/15 Goodyear Eagle Aquatreds. They have been discontinued about a year ago and are by far the best tire I have used on this car including the stock goodyears and the BFG Comp. series, in the dry and the wet weather. Haven't experienced the snow yet. Tinted windows. License plates read: I SHO U |

I have had several races in my younger days. Beat a '91 Acura Integra, '96 Dodge Dakota V6, Pontiac Grand AM V-6, '99 Ford Ranger modified v-6, and several cars on the regular streets that aren't coming to me now. My top three races are as follows: I raced a '96 Chevy Camaro Z28 through a quarter mile. We were even to about 15-20 mph and then he started pulling away. Had me by about 2-3 car lengths. Raced a '89 Ford Mustang that had after market chip, flowmaster exhausts, and new headers that I used to work with. He didn't know too much about the SHO and thought that it would be a blow out. I smoked the tires too much on the first run and he got a good jump BUT he didn't gain anything after that. We got up to about 125mph. Then turned around and raced again. On the way back I got a better start and we were side by side up to 90mph and he had a half a car lead at 125mph. He could not believe that I stayed up with him. He said when he grabbed 3rd gear on the first run and didn't see me drifting back in his rear view mirrow he just about shit. (I mean crapped:-) The last one was a Dodge Spirit R/T. They had about the same horsepower as the SHO I think. Anyway I was on the interstate and I guess he saw my tags and wanted to "play" so we raced from 65mph to 125mph. I gained about a half a car lenth to a full car length. This was MY first real surprise. We slowed back down and he kind of put up his hands like he was saying "is that all you got?" It kind of pissed me off but I got over it because he drove the same kind of quick four door as me but that is where the similarities ended. |
