Outside: SHOshop Y-pipe and cat-back exhaust, with Dynomax mufflers replacing the Edelbrocks. There is a nice new, bigger resonator to make it sound nice and mellow. It has recurved front springs and Cargo-coil rear springs, with Tokico struts. Also, there are Wilwood SHOstopper front brakes, and 16 inch MHT Monterey chrome wire mags and 225/55/16 Michelin Pilots.
Inside: MB Quart 6.5 inch front speakers in the doors, and all the rest of the speakers, including the dash tweeters, are Infinity Kappa IIIs, including the 12 inch sub. It has Alpine amps, 200w and 125w, driving the speakers. There is a Pioneer KPH404 double din deck. CD and Cassette in the dash, and a CDX5000 50 CD changer in the trunk. |

A history of this car cannot be short, but because it is being featured in the final edition of the SHO Registry Magazine as the last SHO of the Quarter, I can summarize to some extent. It was purchased new by me in January of 1990 in Bakersfield, Ca., and driven until spring of 1993. It was sold to a family member at that time. It was repurchased in the fall of 1995, but was stolen just prior to delivery and presumed lost in October of that year. It was found in February of 1996, with massive water damage due to the moonroof being open for all our rainstorms. It was refurbished during 1996, and has been the main daily driver since then. If it can stay clear of the other crazies on the freeways, it is slated for retirement when it hits 300K miles, and will be on permanent display in the Towe Ford Museum in Sacramento, California, along with two of its siblings, an '87 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe with 200K miles, and a '69 Boss 302 with 180K miles. It will be replaced with another all black Gen 1 SHO, Black Beauty, AKA Lowrider II, which will have transferred to it all the Lowrider I's modifications, in order to carry on the krazgeo SHO tradition and to keep the Lowrider soul alive. |

I don't race it, except when I get a chance to put it on a track like Road Atlanta. Its claim to fame is the persistant excellent fuel economy it has been able to deliver, as well as its excellent dependability. It regularly gets over 25 mpg in mixed driving, and on trips across the country can easily pass 30 mpg with the a/c on, particularly at high altitudes. It has gone over 208 thousand miles, with no major engine work or other debilitating failures. It had the factory Ford ESP Plus warranty for 6 years/100K miles, and that dealt most of the major problems it has had to suffer. It has had 3 clutches so far...and is getting one of Josh's new ones with a ceramic TOB in a couple of weeks. This current clutch has lasted almost 100K miles, and is failing due to finger wear. Other repairs include EGR tube replacement, speedo cable, water pump, a/c compressor, shorted visors replaced, rear camber kit installed, and one set of plugs at about 85K miles. All except the EGR and plugs were under warranty. The plugs and wires were finally replaced at 207K, and though the new wires provide peace of mind, the car has never once stumbled, and the check engine light has NEVER been on. It was converted to an R134a a/c system in July, and works perfectly, now that the proper liquid line is installed. Futurei mprovements include replacement of the tires with Bridgestone Potenza RE730s, and possibly a MAF/PCM modification. It will finally get a 60K service within the next few months, including its first ever valve adjustment. |

Car is a '90 SHO (vin 148500) with factory 212 option, and the other additions on the sticker were the in-dash CD player and moonroof. It was originally white, with black leather interior. Now it is a homemade white pearl recipe with pink and blue accents, and a gold pinstripe. It has a nickname given to it by the guys in our local Baysho club...Krazy George's Lowrider. |
