The Vampirella Movie
Written 12th Juli 2000? Shokoshu, did the movie make you THAT speechless?
Not quite. Since I heard enough warnings, I waited until I could see it for
free in a TV SciFi channel. :-)
And my judgement? Well, I have a problem with movies as general.
I can't "step out". I believe in good intentions. I think "Killer Tomatoes" is
one of the funniest movies I ever saw, and "Plan 9 from Outer Space" was
damned for sheer formalistic reasons. Form, form, form. The idea counts!
Insofar I can only say that the movie sucked less than I expected. And the
Vampirella story has been rewritten so many times that one more screwup
of continuity doesn't hurt anyway. I firmly believe there is a Jungian
archetype named Vampirella dancing around in our brains, and all comics
or films are merely shadows of a fantasy that existed since the dawn
of mankind.
But one thing is inexcusable: Talisa Soto. She's cold as a fish. ANYONE could
have given some more "hell hath no fury" to the character.
