July 28, 2002 - Seven Weeks Old
So far we've:

  • walked on carpet, newspaper, underpads, grass, gravel, sawdust, tile, a tarp and a grate; wore our new collars and learned to walk on a lead.

  • played in a cat tunnel, jumped onto a two inch high "table", rocked in a basket, played hide-and-seek with sheets; gone outside to play, had the run of the kitchen; were rocked on the teeter-totter; sat on the contacts; went through 'real' tunnels; and got up close and personal with some sheep.

  • went for a big car ride to watch "Dad" do a herding instinct test on sheep -- and pass! Met lots of people and some other dogs and of course, the sheep!; more car rides followed;

  • heard the TV, radio, the vacuum, dishwasher, washer/dryer, different voices, had visitors, including children, heard someone whistling to music;

  • been brushed daily and had our nails trimmed several times, been touched all over and had our teeth examined; we've all had baths and been blow-dried; our ears are glued, if needed;

  • we met our German Shepherd "aunties" and our daddy, who likes to stand guard at the door

  • we learned that a click means food is coming and we've eaten our first raw meat and cereal meals; Mom still provides for us now and then; for our sixth week birthday we got raw chicken necks; 7th week we got our first chicken wings.

  • done our first "puppy pushups";

  • We've graduated to an x-pen with a doorless crate to sleep in and a puppy litter box to potty -- most of us try to use it;

  • We have lots of toys, making lots of sounds, of different materials and we're starting to carry and "kill" them; we got gloves to play with today, like they use in utility; we like to chase and carry balls;

  • We've learned that learning is fun!
