Blind Faith
                                                      Blind Faith
" Pass me not my gentle saviour
Hear my humble cry
When on others thou art callin'
Do not pass me bye"
Born to highly religious parents somwhere in North America in mid eighteenth century, she suffered from an early chilhood eye infection that resulted in total blindness. She loved to sing and make rhymes despite her disability. She had her dreams in smells and sounds like any person blind at the age was would. Fanny Croby gave to the world an insight into "Faith". She left us over a thousand songs , hymns and rhymes when she died.
One of her hymns that so aptly describes the kind of faith we ought to have is the one above. Story says on the day this song was born, she had gone to church with her parents. Then the Priest had announced that Jesus was passing bye. This was an early Lutherian church. Fanny was said to have heared shouts like"He touched me", "He's over here..." e.tc.
She must have thought that Jesus was physically present. That she couldn't see Him because of her blindness and everyone else could. And since she didn't experience any of the physical touchings others had, she began to sing, " ...when on others thou art calling , do not passs me bye"
A perfectly Blind Faith that saw through to heaven!
