Fishing Lake Winnipesaukee for Salmon & Trout, July 1995

In July 1995 Pete and Tom Civitenga and myself spent a weekend relaxing Lake Winipesaukee in New Hampshire. Saturday mornig we got out on the water an our before the sun rose and trolled all morning for whatever would hit; Landlocked Salmon, Rainbows or Lake Trout. It was a beautiful morning. The lake was as flat as glass and the sunrise was fantastic. The fishing was slow, as Pete will attest...

(im not even going to begin to satrt discussing Pete's Hair Do.)

Not 10 minutes after Pete began complaining about the lousy fishing conditions, he had a strike! Here's aguy who has been fishing for years, but has yet to learn to remain calm when battling a fish of any size.
Take a listen to that very moment...

Pete was trolling a fluorescent Mooselook Wobbler behind a dipsy diver. The problem was he put a leader ahead of the lure that was twice as long the rod he was using. When he reeled the diving disk as far in as it would go he had to walk to the front of the boat and point his rod out in front so that I could net the fish at the other end of the boat. The fish was finally landed and it was a beauty, by anybody's book. A 2.8 lb. Rainbow. Listen to the happy Italian!

You're lookin' at one happy fisherman!

Now he's lookin like a veteran fisherman...but uh oh...when Pete's brother encourages him to kiss the fish, Pete begins to lose control...
