SPECIAL NOTE: Hit the link below left for information on "The New Ball Game" -- a TV special on minor league baseball.
In the course of my baseball travels and ballpark collecting, I have been very pleased to visit some genuinely traditional old ballparks which used to host professional baseball at minor league levels but are currently not in use by any professional team. Perhaps the parent major league clubs have moved their minor league team to a city with a more modern stadium. Or maybe the owners relocated the team to a city where it was determined to be more economically viable for their purposes. In some cases, of course, the team itself was folded down or the league may have gone out of business.
Some of these old ballparks are absolutely terrific venues in which our great national game is played. It is fortunate that these small-scale palaces of our great pastime are maintained and still in use at one level or another.
The links shown at left will bring you to my feature pages on some former minor league and independent league ballparks. You can also connect back to my main Ballparks website home page.
All of my original photos on these pages are shown approximately one-quarter size. If you are using Netscape you can right-click and view-image to get a good look at the full-size images.
