| On Monday, February 11, 2002; it was one year since i first/heard of shoebox. I went to their website to go on about how much i love them and all that jazz. Well. To my surprise and ..... and.... disappointment, it was brought to my attention that Jonathan had left. This is what Derek wrote in the guestbook: "So...you're probably wondering what the shoebox kids have been up to lately and why things ahve been so quiet... Well, here it goes... "A little while ago Jon decided that his trek in a band has come to a close. He has decided to leave the band in order to concentrate on his snowboarding, among other things. We love the guy, and hope he does really well with it. Needles to say, that sucks for shoebox. But we knowthat the people who really like us will still come to see us live abd Brian, Mike and I will still rock your pants off just as hard. Perhaps harder. We are planning a trip to PEI very soon (as well as some future dates around Halifax) so we can present our new band of what i like to call pop-think-emu-rhinoceros-rock. Ok, i've never called it that before. We are keeping some of the old songs, but we have a whole bunch of new crazy songs for the kids to rock out to. We'll see you soon. I personally like all-ages show (especially in PEI), please buy us food and guitar strings. Also, let us sleep on our floor. "That's it for now. It has been a wacky and fun 6 years with Jon, and we'll miss him terribly. I'm sure most of you will, too. We anticipate a loss in our female listenership because, well, let's face it....Mike and Brian and Derek just don't have the looks and that winning smile. But we have the rock. I think that's enough. ** They're going to be featured on "a Low Watt Document", which is a compliation album done by Atlanta Georgia based 'Shut Eye Records'. Pete Knapp (president), came across their site and got a cd. The last compilation they did sold out in a week, so maybe you guys can help this one out! Looks like they're the only Canadian band on it! Shut Eye features bands such as Boetz (featuring Lemmy from Motor Head), among others.
