D.A. & Marye Callaway attended the Fifth Annual Santa Fe Trails Bluegrass Festival in Bonner Springs, Kansas on May 17 & 18, 2002.  Several good bands were there, but five different stages meant we couldn't see all of them.
John Cowan (above) brought along some fine sidemen, including Scott Vestal on banjo and Luke Bulla on fiddle and mandolin (below).  Cowan's special guest was Vassar Clements (no photo).
Ron Spears and his band from sunny California played some great traditional sounding bluegrass music.
This fellow played and sang some outstanding tunes with
The Raindogs of Kansas City.
Our good pals "The Wilders" hypnotized the crowd with some old timey mojo!
From Eastern Tennessee, it's the Reeltime Travelers...  One of our favorite new bands.
We also enjoyed 'Big Twang' from Wichita, and many other accomplished bands.  The campgrounds were hopping and the overall experience was like a miniature Winfield.
Next year, pack some sun screen and come along.
