| 10 War Posters | ||||
| I picked 10 WWI posters and I would discuss the participants, processes, and circumstances of them. Each of the posters had their own meanings for the war. They give different perspectives of the war. Almost all of the posters are to try and convince people to go to war with them. Some of them show people fighting in war and you could see some of them as nurses. The posters played a big part of how people started to volunteer to join the army. Without the posters, we wouldnt have as much people fighting for WWI. My first picture looks like a man holding a flag. What it says is, Over the Top for you, Buy U.S. Govt. Bonds, Third Liberty Loan. The participants in the picture are the person and the flag. This is because those are the only things in the picture. The process of the picture is the person carrying the flag, which represents the U.S. The circumstances are that they are trying to influence the people to buy U.S. bonds that would make a lot of money for the U.S. What I think this picture is stating is that we should buy U.S. bonds to help the U.S. The Over the Top means being rich, so that must be what it means. The poster is promoting the U.S. to buy bonds for liberty. My second picture looks like a person-carrying luggage. What it said is A Wonderful Opportunity for YOU. This was from the U.S. Navy. The participants in this poster is person and the luggage. The process is the person walking or running with the luggage to somewhere else. The circumstances of the poster is that they are trying to influence us to have a wonderful opportunity in the U.S. Navy. What this is trying to promote is to want to make people join the U.S. navy for a wonderful opportunity. Why they are doing this is because they need more people to join the U.S. Navy. Thats why they are putting these posters to convince people that its a good opportunity joining the U.S. Navy. My third picture looks like 2 people caring for a horse. What it said is You can be a skilled tradesman by joining the army. The participants in this poster are the 2 men and the horse. The process is the people grooming and taking care of the horse like a good tradesman. The circumstances of the poster is that they are trying to convince us to join the army if you want to be a skilled tradesman. What they are trying to promote is to try and convince people to join the army. They are mentioning that if you want to be a skilled tradesman, you should join the army. Why they are doing this is because there arent enough people in the army, so they had to make posters to convince people to join the army. My fourth picture looks like a person holding something. What it said is Blood or Bread. The participants in this poster is the person and what the person is holding. The process is the person holding the item, since thats the only thing there. What the circumstances are is that they are trying to get people to care for what they have in hand. What I think is that they are trying to convince people to save money if they arent going to war, so they could get something out of the war. My fifth picture looks like a basket of vegetables in the front of the poster. What it says is Food is Ammunition, dont waste it. The participants of this poster is the basket of vegetables. The process is the vegetables being the main thing of the poster since the food are the ammunition. The circumstances are that the food is very important to the war and that the food could be life threatening if you have no more. What I think is that this means that food could be a weapon too, because in order to win a war, you need food to survive and energy. Why they do this is because they need to food to feed the soldiers in order to fight a good war. My sixth picture looks like a dead person from the mud rising up from the grave or something. What it says is Remember the Bond. The participants in this poster is the person who looks like he coming out from a grave. The process is the person looking like hes reaching out from the grave and coming alive again. The circumstances is that they are trying to make us remember that the U.S. fought together and bonded together to fight as one. What I think is that they are trying to influence us to think that we are all together and we bond together to fight as one. My seventh picture looks like there are 4 people. 2 knights and 2 other people whom are suffering while sitting down. What it says is Halt the Hun, Three Liberty Loan. Who the participants are the 4 people in the poster, since they are the only people in there. The process are the 2 knights looking down on the other 2 people sitting down. The circumstances are is that you should buy the government bonds. What I think is that they are trying to convince the people to buy government bonds. Why they are doing this is because the war takes up a lot of money, so they need extra money to get everything back. My eight picture looks like a person with a knife with blood on it on the water. What it says is Help Crush the Menace of the Seas. The participant is the person under the water with the knife with blood on it. The process is the person trying to come out of the water. The circumstances are that they want the people to buy the liberty bonds. Why they are doing this is that they need more money for the war. Once you go to war, you start to lose money on weapons and stuff like that. If people buy the bonds, the U.S. could earn more money. My ninth picture looks like a grandma who is giving a hug or something like that. What it says is Women! Help the American Sons win the war. The participant in the poster is the grandma/old lady. The process is like the grandma giving the camera the hug or something. The circumstances is that they want the women to help the war also. What I think is that they are saying this, so women could buy government bonds to help the U.S. troops in the war. Why they are doing this is because they dont have enough money for the war, so they are desperate to get more money. My last picture looks like there are 2 people; there is a troop sitting down and a troop helping the troop sitting down. What it says is For Your Boy, United War Work Campaign. The participants in this picture are the troops in the poster. The process is that the troop standing up is helping the troop sitting down. The circumstances is that they want us to believe in the troops for their life sake. What I think is that they are doing this because they want us to have faith in our troops, so they could help us fight much better in it. That way, we could win the war. |
