Let's get the ball rolling...
1st update - Friday 23rd March 2001 Whilst you may think that running a website for this is a bit poncy (and to a certain extent I agree), there is a reason behind it.
The organisation (ha!) of the last reunion involved me writing and phoning people individually, getting their views and opinions (and more importantly, available dates and preferred locations), and then passing on the information to everyone else.
This process was quite time consuming, but more importantly, it was very slow. By making announcements on this site, and using the message board, I hope that the process will speed up a bit.
I hope to involve as many people as possible via e-mail and this site, but I will be contacting people by mail, if I can't reach them by this new fangled electric thingummy.
So who's going to be there?
The people who have expressed an interest so far are as follows...
Patman, Paul, Nick, John, Jim, Phil, Candy, Babs, Rachel and myself.
If you know of anyone else who may be interested, then please let me know their contact details (particularly e-mail), or even possibly get in touch with them yourselves. Ta.
When will it be? Where are we gonna go?
The date and location are probably going to be the major "bones of contention". So far, the only suggestion for a date has been from Nick (cheers matey), who has suggested the weekend next to the birthdays of Paul and Andy. This of course may cause problems for any birthday celebrations that these two may be planning.
Nick has also voiced an opinion that Hertfordshire is quite a large distance for him to travel, which is ironic considering he can fly a helicopter, and it would take him approx half an hour to get down there.
I did have a thought that next year would be the 10th Anniversary of our arrival in Herts, so would it be better to arrange a big blow-out for next year instead, or is the year not particularly relevant?
What are we gonna do?
Another potential issue is what to do during the day. At the last "event", the Saturday was spent in a pub, then getting drenched walking to the Gonnoreah, sorry, Galleria.
Hardly an awe inspiring afternoon, although the beer was nice. We all know from experienvce that the Hatfield / St. Albans area is not exactly a hotbed of activity, but then again, does it need to be?
I am open to suggestions for activities (assuming we make it a weekend meeting, the same as last time), although taking residence might be the best answer.
So, leave messages, or e-mail me with your thoughts and suggestions about date and location.
The sooner we decide on this, the sooner I can book a hotel and alert the paramedics...
