February 20th finally arrived with much promise. The pre-wedding ceremonies at home did not cease during the day and as day turned into dusk, the anticipation reached a crescendo as my Wedding Party (Barath) left our home (with me on horseback). We made our way over two kilometers with lights, a band, fireworks, and much dancing -- through the streets of Bilaspur. As townsfolk watched and joined in the fun during the hour long procession, My wedding party eventually reached the Steps of the Wedding Hall where Shobhana's family awaited eagerly to receive us.
From there, the pre-wedding "reception" commenced for the hundreds of guests and well wishers with orchestra, food, and much fun.
At 11pm, Our wedding ceremony started in the company of our closest family and a short time, and seven "pheras" later, Shobhana and I were husband and wife.
