The Next Door Neighbour
I woke up with a huge yawn across my face.
Scratching my head, I headed to the bathroom with messy hair and look at my half
awaken face on the mirror.
“Whoa… you’re looking sexy this morning,”
I said to myself in the mirror, seeing some wild strands of hair popping out
everywhere. I had just reached the age of 15 this year and I was the youngest of
four and the only girl in the family. My brothers? Eldest would be Shane,
followed by Mark and Kian. I hate being the lone lady of the house, besides my
mom, having three brothers teasing and making fun of me, but what I enjoyed was
the protection from my brothers and being able to join the ‘popular’ girl
groups in school because of the three good looking brothers I have.
After cleaning up my room and dressed in my school uniform (maroon skirt
with a white shirt and bow and another maroon jacket) I headed downstairs for
breakfast.
“Morning mum,” I said to her as I sat by the
table. My mother, Yvonne, with blonde hair, which Kian and I inherited from,
greeted me with a smile and puts a plate of bacon and eggs in front of me.
“C’mon Mark! You’ve been in there for
nearly half an hour! What are you doing? Wanking?” Kian shouted from the floor
above.
“Watch your language Kian!” mom shouted back
at him.
“Sorry mum!” he shouted back. I nearly had a
headache from all of the shouting in the house. Soon Shane came down all fully
clothed in his uniform (maroon jacket with a white shirt and black slacks).
“Morning mum, morning Madison,” Shane said
kissing mom on the cheeks and me on my forehead. I love being in the company of
my eldest brother, he was not as loud as the other two or as cheeky as they are,
but sometimes he could be way too protective, even more than father.
“Here, eat up,” Yvonne said as she too put a
plate of bacon and eggs in front of Shane.
“Thanks mum, out of black pudding today?”
Shane asked as he begins slicing the bacon.
“It’s in the bag sweetie,” she replied
pointing to four brown paper bags by the kitchen counter each of them with our
names on it.
“Oh wow… what did you get me mum?” I asked
as she got up and grabbed my paper bag.
“Hmm… chicken sandwich with extra mayo and a
box of orange juice,” she told me.
“Extra mayo again? Ew…” Shane replied with
a disgusted look at me. I replied by sticking my tongue out at him that made him
smile back.
“Mornin Mum!” Mark said as he popped into the
kitchen.
“Morning hun, cereal’s in the cupboard and
the milk is in the refrigerator,” Yvonne told him. Mark nodded and took the
cereal and milk out on to the table. Mark became a vegetarian thanks to his
girlfriend, Sarah who is also a vegetarian.
“How long has it been since you had this?” I
asked as I showed Mark a slice of bacon on my fork.
“Do that again and I’ll make you miserable in
school,” Mark warned me. He had the power to control my friends somehow… so
I just shut up. We quickly finished our breakfast right just when Kian came into
the kitchen.
“When will I have my own bathroom mum?” Kian
complained and shot Mark an evil look.
“When you have enough money to get your own,”
she replied to him. Kian groaned and began pouring cereal into his bowl and
followed by some milk.
“Hurry it up will you Kian? We’re going to be
late,” Shane said as he tied his shoelace. I just skipped joyfully in front of
Shane and Mark who had to wear shoes with laces while I just slipped into my
shoes easily.
“Yeah, yeah…” Kian replied tiredly as he
stuffed all of the cereal into his mouth.
“Gtth gwo mumph,” Kian said with a mouthful
of cereal.
“Don’t forget your lunch!” mom said as she
passed his paper bag to him. Shane started the car as we all got in. He already
has a drivers licence so he was in charge of sending us to school and anywhere
else, which he didn’t mind.
“What did you get Maddy?” Kian asked as he
looked at his paper bag.
“Chicken sandwich with extra mayo,” I told
him. He looks at my paper bag and asked Mark the same question.
“Black pudding with chicken sandwich… less
mayo I assume,” Mark replied.
“Ready to go?” Shane asked us.
“Oh wait! Wait!” I quickly said when I
noticed dad walking out of the house to get the paper in his robe. I quickly
unwind the window.
“Bye Daddy!” I shouted at him as I waved. He
smiled and waved back. Shane switched the gear to D and we left the house.
Shane parked the car at our usual spot and we
walked to the school not very far away. ‘Summer Hill High School’ was
displayed in front of our school. I went in and joined my friends who were
waiting for me at the gates… or maybe just to catch a glimpse of my brothers.
They always greet my brothers goofily. Some were even ‘Hi Mark… you look
tall today’ and ‘my, my Shane, you drove again?’
The bell rung and my friends and I went to
respective classes. One of them, Tammy has same classes as I do. We’ve been
friends since we were in primary school and I think that she is the only one who
doesn’t really fancy any of my brothers.
Halfway through our history lesson, we were
interrupted by our student counsellor. Seems like we have a new student in our
class. When the boy walked into our class I was struck hard by the blue eyes and
dirty blonde hair he had.
“Class… this is Nicholas Bernard James Adam
Scott, you can sit next to Madison there,” said Mrs. Thorn, a perfect name to
reflect her personality. Nicky walked silently across the room with whispers
around the class and sat at the empty table next to me. I couldn’t get my eyes
of his gorgeous looks and I was attracted to him by some unknown force. Nicky
noticed this and gave me a charming smile that caused me to blush.
“Nicky Scott,” he said to my, holding out his
hand.
“Madison Andrews,” I replied, shaking his
hand. He had a strong grip, yet soft feel to his hand. He smiled at me again.
“Your name is Nicholas Adam Bernard James
Scott?” I asked, mixing up his name.
“Nicholas Bernard James Adam Scott,” he
replied slowly. I started giggling.
“Okay class… back to the Revolution, oh and
Nicholas? If you don’t have a textbook just share with someone for this
moment,” said Mr. Frederick, our history teacher. Nicky then looks at my
textbook and me. I just nodded at him and he pulled his chair closer to my table
as I shared my textbook with him. I couldn’t get my mind into history that
whole time; all I could hear was his deep breathing.
It was recess and I headed to the cafeteria with
my paper bag. I joined my usual girl group and pulled out my extra mayo chicken
sandwich.
“Extra mayo again?” Tammy asked. I was
starting to get irritated by these questions somehow. Just before I took a bite
I noticed Nicky in the middle of the cafeteria, holding a paper bag in his hand
and looking around nervously for a place to sit. I felt pity of him and excused
myself from the group as I put my sandwich back into the bag and went up to him.
“Can’t find a place to sit?” I asked. Nicky
jolted back with shock.
“Sorry,” I replied to him.
“It’s okay… I’m just… looking for my
brother” Nicky said as he looked around.
“Brother?” I asked.
“Yeah… blonde and rather big size,” Nicky
said to me as our eyes started exploring the whole cafeteria.
“Is that him?” I asked as pointed at an
unfamiliar blonde guy next to Mark.
“Yeah… I see he has a friend too,” Nicky
told me as he looks at Mark.
“That’s my brother, Mark,” I told Nicky as
we headed to them.
“Hey Nicky… how’s your class?” Bryan
asked as he noticed us walking to him.
“It was fine… this is Madison,” Nicky
introduced me to him. Mark looks at me surprisingly.
“Wow… you’ve got a girlfriend in your first
day?” Bryan said excitingly. I just blushed and noticed Nicky was too.
“She’s my sister,” Mark told Bryan. Bryan
jolted back.
“What are the odds of that?” Bryan asked
disbelievingly. We sat opposite of them. I pulled out my sandwich and noticed
Nicky pulling out a sandwich too.
“Chicken sandwich with extra mayo again? Man…
mum would do anything to get you that would she?” Bryan said to Nicky. I was
shocked to know that Nicky also had the same sandwich as mine.
“Oh… what are the odds of THAT?” Mark said
to me cheekily. I stomped on his foot and smiled at Nicky and Bryan, leaving
Mark with a painful expression on his face.
“What are you having?” Nicky asked. I
just stared at my sandwich.
“Ah… umm… sandwich?” I replied stupidly.
Bryan gave me a puzzled look while Nicky smiled
at me and never bothered to ask me again. I ate my sandwich silently as Bryan
and Mark started talking about each other. Nicky stole a few looks, but I
didn’t bother.
The whole day went off with me never paying any
attention in class. I don’t even remember learning anything that day… all
that was in my head is Nicky Bernard James Adam Scott, or was it Nicky Adam
Bernard James? James Adam Bernard?
I headed to Shane’s car and to my surprise; I
saw Bryan and Nicky waiting with Shane, Mark and Kian.
“What are they doing here?” I whispered to
Mark.
“They’re actually our new neighbours,” Mark
told me.
“What are the odds of THAT?” Bryan
managed to say to me. I turn to Nicky and blushed at the sight of him. He gave
me another one of his charming smiles.
“Let’s go… you better sit up front
Madison,” Shane said as he got into the car. I nodded and sat in front while
the other four squeezed behind.
“Umm… I think Bryan should sit in front…”
Kian squealed as they tried to close the door. Shane thought for a moment and
agreed, so I got out and sat between Mark and Kian with Bryan up front and Nicky
at the other corner of the car. I sighed, thinking that I would be able to at
least sit next to him again, but this time… closer.
We arrived home and mum was happy to see that
we’ve already made friends with our new neighbour. She just happens to be
passing a baked cake to Mrs. Scott when we arrived.
“Let’s
go over to Mrs. Scott,” mum told us.
“What? Now? Look at me,” Kian said as he
showed us his pants that were filled with mud.
“You forgotten to bring your trainers again?”
Shane asked him. Kian just nodded silently.
“You young man, are to march back to your room
change and come over to Mrs. Scott’s house, I’m so sick of you always
forgetting to bring your trainers,” mum scolded him. Kian sulked and marched
back to the house while we headed over to Nicky’s house.
Just as we got in, Mrs. Scott, also known as
Fran, greeted us. I sat on the couch between Shane, Mark and mum. Fran and mum
started talking and Nicky’s eldest sister, Gillian served some tea. I noticed
Shane and Gillian taking some looks at each other. It was also kind enough of
Gillian to show me around the house, so I ended up in her room, which there
were, still unpacked boxes around it.
“So how does it feel to have all these good
looking brothers around you all the time?” Gillian asked me.
“Nothing unusual, except the extra attention in
school,” I told her, as I looked at her collection of CDs in the box that has
the word ‘schtuff’.
“How old is your eldest brother by the way?”
Gillian asked as she twirled her hair around her finger.
“Shane? About 17… you’re interested in him
aren’t you?” I asked her. Gillian started blushing as I noticed the redness
on her fair cheeks.
“Sort of,” she whispered back.
“Shane’s single at the moment… what would
you like to know about him?” I asked, sitting next to her on the floor.
Gillian smiled and we began talking about Shane. I even mention about him always
sleep naked in bed and I noticed that Gillian was excited whenever I talked
about his body. As we were talking, we were interrupted by a knock on the door.
Gillian got up and opened the door.
“Hey girls, sorry to interrupt, but Madison’s
mom is leaving,” Nicky said. Gillian groaned as she heard this, she wanted to
know more about Shane.
“I’ll come back after lunch… maybe help you
unpack some more of your stuff,” I told Gillian. Gillian’s face lighted up
and so did Nicky somehow. He was still in his uniform, maybe talking to Kian
earlier about football. I knew about his passion in football during maths
earlier in school.
After lunch, I took a quick shower and put on a
simple white tee and a denim skirt. I tied my long blonde hair into a ponytail
and headed downstairs. Dad just arrived home, as I was about to leave the house.
“Where you going honey?” dad asked.
“Over to Mrs. Scott to help Gillian unpack her
stuff, be right back for dinner,” I told him as I messed up his brunette hair
where Shane and Mark got it.
“Okay… be careful,” he said. I looked at
him with a raised eyebrow.
“What?” he replied.
“It’s just next door, I’m not going
overseas or anything like that,” I said to him as I adjusted his nametag…
Elliot, that was his name.
“You’re my only daughter… you know mum, she
wouldn’t get me another,” dad told me as we both burst out laughing.
“Imagine if we got another brother,” I told
him as I left. He smiled back as I headed over to Nicky’s house.
I was now in Gillian’s room and a quarter of
the boxes were already emptied. We started opening the rest and after half an
hour, we were done.
Just as we were about to start our conversation about Shane, we were
interrupted again by a knock on the door.
“What now Nicky?” Gillian asked.
“Mum needs you to accompany her for grocery shopping,” Nicky told
her.
“Now? God! Why now?” Gillian sulked as she stomped her feet.
“I’ll just head back now,” I told Gillian, knowing that she’s
busy.
“No… stay here, I’ll be back in a few minutes… Nicky dear… accompany Madison would you?” Gillian asked as both Nicky and I stared at each other.
“S…
sure…” he stuttered. Gillian winked at both of us and headed downstairs to
join her mum.
“So…”
Nicky whispered.
“So…”
I whispered back. We just stood there silently, looking at each other’s feet.
“Where’s
Bryan?” I asked.
“Oh…
he’s sleeping in his room… he’s always asleep at this time of the day,”
Nicky told me, and we started giggling.
“What
were you doing?” I asked again.
“Unpacking,
I’m not done yet though,” Nicky told me.
“I’ll
help,” I replied to him. He nodded and both of us headed over to his room. It
was as big as mine and I noticed that his window was facing my window. I blushed
and never told Nicky about it. We started unpacking his stuff.
“Boyzone?
You listen to them too?” I asked as I pulled out some of Nicky’s Boyzone
albums.
“Oh…
yeah, sort of,” he replied.
“Me
too… I love Ronan,” I told Nicky when all of a sudden I noticed something
about Nicky.
“What?”
Nicky asked as he noticed me staring at him awkwardly. I looked at Ronan in the
album cover and back to Nicky. I even held up the album and fixed my eyes on
both Ronan and Nicky.
“You
look just like Ronan,” I told him.
“What?
No way…” Nicky said with a smile and continued his work.
“Yeah
uh! You do look like Ronan,” I said as I got closer to him and looks at both
Ronan and Nicky.
“Stop
it… we’ve still got lots of things to do,” Nicky told me. I smiled back at
him and we both continued unpacking.
“I’m
exhausted!” I said as I sat on Nicky’s bed.
“Me
too,” he replied and sat behind me. Just as he sat on the bed, I was pulled
back and we were lying on each other back to back, but somehow, we didn’t want
to pull each other away.
“Madison?”
Nicky called me.
“Yeah?”
I replied softly.
“I’m
glad we met,” Nicky told me. I smiled at what he said.
“Me
too,” I replied softly. Our hands started crawling to each other, and both of
the tips of our little finger touched. Somehow I felt relaxed and comfortable
and before I knew it, my head was resting on the back of his.
“Nicky!”
Bryan shouted as he barged into the room. We quickly got up and looked at him.
Lucky for us, Bryan didn’t noticed what we were doing.
“Don’t
you ever knock?” Nicky asked him furiously.
“Mom’s
back and I’m not done unpacking yet, help me would ya?” Bryan asked.
“No
way! It’s your room!” Nicky fought back.
“I
don’t care… help me or I’ll tell Madison about your…” Bryan said
softly when Nicky quickly shuts his mouth and gave in.
“About
what?” I asked curiously. Bryan gave me a cheeky look when Nicky excused
himself and pushes Bryan back to his room. I just stood there with a smile,
touched by the brother’s actions.
“Oh
you’re here… come on, let’s go to my room,” Gillian said as she came
into Nicky’s room. I nodded and joined her in her room where we began to talk
more about Shane.
It
was almost 5 minutes to 7 and I excused myself from Gillian. I was standing by
the porch when Gillian called me.
“It’s
the weekends tomorrow, wanna go out?” Gillian asked.
“Oh…
sure… I don’t mind,” I told Gillian. Just at that moment, I saw Shane
walking out of the house with a small bag of rubbish. He noticed us and began
waving.
“Hi
Gillian!” he shouted across the lawn. I looked at him puzzled. Mum usually
gets Mark to throw the rubbish… and it’s always a large bag… 3 times as
big as what Shane was holding at that moment.
“I
think he fancies you,” I told Gillian.
“What?
No way…” Gillian said blushing as she waved back at Shane, who was still
standing by the rubbish bin, looking at us.
“I’m
his sis… I know… and besides, he doesn’t throw the rubbish, it’s always
Mark,” I told her as I headed back home. She smiled back at me and I walked
towards Shane.
“So…
how was your day?” Shane asked.
“You’re
being very kind today… what’s wrong?” I asked.
“What?
Can’t a brother know how his sister enjoyed her day?” Shane said
sarcastically.
“Spill
it,” I replied coldly as we walked back to the front door.
“Do
you think she fancies me?” Shane confessed. I gave him a cheeky look.
“The
reason I went back is because she wants to know more about you,” I told him.
Shane’s face grew with excitement.
“Really?
You serious?” he asked me. I just nodded with a smile.
“Oh
my God! I can’t believe it!” Shane shouted.
“You
fancy her then?” I asked him.
“Hell
yeah… she’s hot,” Shane said to me. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Oh
yeah… I told her how your room is a pig sty,” I said laughing as I ran into
the house. Shane never liked me telling people how messy his room always is.
“Why
you!” he shouted at me as he started chasing me around the house. We burst
into the hall where Mark was watching some telly.
“Hey!
Stop blocking,” Mark scolded us.
“Catch
her for me will ya?” Shane asked Mark. This is where it got ugly. Mark always
teams up to get me, maybe because both of them are the brunettes. So…
“Kian!
Team member in trouble!” I shouted as I tried dodging Shane and Mark’s
grips. Kian came running down the stairs with a pillow.
“Here
comes Kian!” he shouted and started whacking Mark with the pillow. Mark
started wrestling with Kian as I continued running around the house with Shane
chasing after me.
“Mum!”
I shouted.
“She’s
not here! She went over to Aunt Patricia’s,” Shane shouted back.
“Dad!”
I screamed.
“He’s
with mum!” he shouted back at me again. Fatigue finally got the best of me and
Shane was able catch me. I was then brought to the hall where Kian too has lost
to Mark.
“What
punishment would it be tonight?” Mark asked Shane.
“Atomic
Wedgie?” Shane suggested.
“Nah…
remember we ripped Maddy’s panties?” Mark replied.
“It
was expensive you know?” I said to Mark.
“Panties
are always so thin,” Shane replied back.
“Hey…
you okay?” Kian asked me. I nodded back. We were sitting by the fireplace as
Shane and Mark started discussing our punishment.
“We’re
too weak for them, at the count of three, we head to your room okay?” Kian
suggested. I nodded again. Kian started counting and when it was 3; we sprinted
up the stairs into my room. Shane and Mark were caught off guard and we managed
to lock our self in my room.
“Open
up!” Shane shouted through the door.
“Not
until mum comes back!” I shouted back. Mark and Shane then gave up and left
us.
“That
was close,” Kian told me.
“Yeah…
Why can’t we always beat them?” I asked Kian between breaths.
“Maybe
because we’re the youngest?” Kian asked. We then started laughing. Suddenly
we heard a car driving up the pave way.
“Mum’s
back,” Kian told me as he unlocks the door.
“I’m
getting a shower first, tell mum I’ll be down in a few minutes,” I told him.
“More
like an hour,” he replied and walked out the room.
“GOTCHA!”
Mark shouted as he grabbed Kian. I panicked and quickly lock the door.
“Hey!
Mum’s back you know?” I heard Kian said through the door.
“That’s
just Shane… we’ve tricked ya,” Mark replied.
“Maddy!
Help!” Kian shouted.
“Its
too late Maddy… come out and you’re next!” Mark shouted back. I didn’t
dare to open the door.
“Betrayal!
You betrayed me!” Kian shouted as his voice slowly fades. I couldn’t help
but laugh my heart out. I got up to my legs and untie my ponytail. Just as I was
about to head into the bathroom, I saw Nicky’s lights flicked on. I quickly
switched off my lights and peeped through the window. Nicky closed his door and
removed his tee, showing a half built and sexy body. He then took a football and
started juggling it with his head and feet. He was very good at it, but I
wasn’t focusing on his skills… more like his body. He started to unbuckle
his jeans when he suddenly notices the curtains still open, so he closed it.
“Damn!
Shit!” I started to swear every swear word that came into my mind and headed
to flick the lights back on. I then went for a long shower and by the time I was
done mum was already back.
I
headed to the dining table where the food was already on the table and I noticed
Shane and Mark sitting by the table awfully quietly with dad reading the
newspaper. This happens whenever mum scolds them, so I assume they were caught.
Kian then came into the room with his face filled with permanent marker marks.
“It
wouldn’t come off!” Kian complained as he had a towel in his hand and his
face was wet. I couldn’t help but laugh, followed by Mark and Shane.
“You
better thank God that it’s the weekends, I couldn’t go to school like
this,” Kian said sulkily as we sat by the table. Mum then came into the dining
hall with a jug of cold water. We said our prayers and started eating. I
wasn’t concentrating on eating during dinner, Nicky’s body keep popping out
in my mind since I saw it. Just at that moment, I remembered Gillian’s invite
to go out.
“Mum…
can I have permission to go out with Gillian tomorrow?” I asked her. Shane
suddenly took real interest.
“Sure…
how are you two going out?” mum asked.
“Most
probably by bus, I’m showing Gillian around town,” I replied.
“If
that’s the case, bring one of your brothers along… it’s becoming really
dangerous around town these days,” mum told me.
“Kian?”
mum asked.
“With
this on my face? Heck no!” he replied.
“Mark?”
mum asked, looking at him eating some broccoli.
“Sorry
Maddy, I’ve got to join Sarah for the annual vegetarian’s meeting
tomorrow,” Mark replied.
“Sh…”
mum was about to call when he interrupted her.
“Sure
would… Heck I’ll even drive them around town,” Shane suggested. I
couldn’t help but smile.
“That’s
kind of you Shane dear…” she smiled back. I winked at Shane and he winked
back. We continued to finish our dinner and I headed back up to my room to
finish some homework. Concentrating on my math questions, I suddenly saw
Nicky’s lights flick on. I quickly switch off my table light and again I
peeped out the window. Apparently he had just finished dinner cause I could see
him looking rather chuffed. He walked over to his table and grabbed his bag and
started doing his homework. I was fixed into him, he looks very good looking and
I assume that he was smart since he finished his homework in a matter of
minutes. I noticed Nicky staring into my window a few times, but I realise that
he couldn’t see me cause he would just stare at it for a few seconds. I looked
at the time and it was nearly 10 p.m. Just at that moment, I realised my
homework wasn’t finish. I quickly closed my curtains and switch on the table
light.
“What
is he doing?” I asked myself as I tried to concentrate on my work.
“Nothing…
concentrate on math…” I replied to myself as I looked at my math question.
“The
reduction 50 barrels over 900 Nicky Scott, in addition to 68 Bernard James…”
I started reading in my head.
“Seriously…
he could be working out you know?” a voice came into my head. I then took
another peek through the curtains and saw Nicky sitting by the table, reading
something. I quickly stopped and went back to my work.
I woke up again with messy hair. I got into my bathroom and out refresh I
became. I wore a black sleeveless leather dress and black sneakers. This time I
braided my hair and put on my white jacket. I popped into the kitchen and had
some toast. Mum was doing her daily chores and Mark was sitting opposite me,
drinking some coffee. Suddenly there was a horn from outside.
“Got to go, Sarah’s here,” Mark said as he finished his coffee.
“Hey Mark…” I called out.
“Yeah
Maddy?” he said, looking at me.
“Say
hi to the veggies for me okay?” I joked. He just came over to me; pinch me on
the cheeks and left after kissing mum on the cheeks.
“Ouch…” I whispered as I message my cheeks.
“Your brother is already in his fifth month of
being a vegetarian love, show some respect okay?” mum told me.
“Okay…” I whispered back. Shane came down
wearing a long sleeve shirt with black slacks and a large smile on his face. I
looked at him with a raised eyebrow.
“What?” he asked. I pointed at his clothes.
“Wrong,” I said. Shane looked at himself and
ran back upstairs. I continued to munch on my toast. Minutes later he came down
wearing a tee and Bermudas. I repeated my look.
“What now?” he said.
“Where in the world did that Bermudas came
from? Mars?” I replied to him. Shane looked at himself again and ran back up.
Minutes later he came down, breathing heavily in a plain white tee, jeans and a
denim jacket.
“Now?” he said between breaths.
“Good…” I replied and finish my tea.
“Let’s go,” I said getting up and heading
to the door.
“But I haven’t even eaten yet,” Shane said
unbelievingly at me.
“I promised Gillian 10 and it’s already 5
minutes past 10,” I told Shane as I opened the door. Mum just looks at him,
not wanting to join. He just shook his head and we left.
“Hi Madison… Hi… Shane,” Gillian said
slowly once she noticed Shane behind me.
“Hi Gillian,” Shane replied goofily. I just
shook my head.
“Anyway, Shane’s going to be driving us
around, if you don’t mind,” I told her.
“Oh… sure… no problem, but there’s
another problem,” Gillian said.
“Another problem? What is it?” I asked.
“I’ve got to bring Nicky along, Bryan and my
parents left to get some tools for some other renovations in the house,
they’ll be out whole day,” Gillian replied disappointingly, but I was
excited, knowing Nicky would be joining us.
“I don’t mind,” I quickly told her.
Suddenly I saw Nicky walking towards us in a normal tee and longs.
“Hi Madison,” he called. I replied and smiled
back.
“Well then, let’s go,” Shane, said. Gillian
locked up and we headed to Shane car, but we were confused at who should sit
where.
“Umm… why don’t Gillian sit in front while
you two sit behind?” Shane suggested.
“I don’t mind,” said the three of us
together and we headed to sit at our respective position.
“Where to?” Shane asked.
“We’re new here… remember?” Gillian
asked.
“How about the theme park in Avenue Square?”
I asked.
“Perfect,” Shane said and started driving.
Nicky was awfully quiet on the way to the theme
park, heck… all four of us were silent.
We finally reached the park and Shane insisted on
paying for all four of us. Gillian seem to enjoy it.
“Okay… why don’t you two go do something
else, while I accompany Gillian?” Shane suggests.
“I don’t mind!” both Nicky and I said.
“Great… be back here by 4,” Shane told us
and left with Gillian. I looked at Nicky and he looked back at me.
“So…” he whispered.
“So…” I whispered back.
“What do you want to do first?” Nicky asked.
“The roller coaster… c’mon it’s
exciting,” I told him as I ran towards it. Nicky followed behind. Thank our
lucky stars that the line wasn’t long. So it was a matter of minutes till it
was our turn. I was enjoying the screams that I heard from the roller coaster
above. I turned and looked at Nicky. He was looking a little sick.
“You alright?” I asked.
“Y…yeah… never better,” he said. I felt a
little worried.
“Are you sure? You look pale,” I said,
noticing the colour fading from his face. He just shook his head. Just at that
moment, the roller coaster just finished and it was our turn.
“C’mon,” I told Nicky as I sat in front. He
followed and sat next to me. His face looked even worst.
“Well… brace yourself, this is one of the
most intense roller coasters in Ireland you know?” I told Nicky. He looked at
me with the biggest eyes I ever seen.
“And you never manage to tell me this
earlier?” Nicky asked.
“Why? Is something wrong?” I asked back as
the roller coaster started going up.
“I… afraid… heights… intense,” Nicky
manage to whisper out as the roller coaster reached the top.
“Oh… sorry,” I whispered back and off we
went in the roller coaster.
“Dear Lord… I’m really sorry for not
telling you earlier,” I said as I messaged Nicky’s back. We were at a nearby
bush where Nicky was apparently puking.
“I’m fine,” he whispered back with a pale
looking face.
“Here…” I said, passing him a tissue.
“Thanks,” he replied.
I couldn’t but laugh at that moment and I was glad he laughed back.
“Let’s have a seat,” I suggested. Nicky
nodded and we went over to the bench. We sat there like two statues. No words,
no movement. Suddenly Nicky looks at me and turned his back towards me. I smiled
back and did the same. There we were, back to back again and I felt comfortable.
“I hope I didn’t ruin your roller coaster
ride,” Nicky said to me.
“No you didn’t… I was glad you put up with
it, even when you’re afraid of heights,” I said, giggling softly. Again, my
head leaned back and I felt the back of his head on mine. My head then slipped
and I was now on his shoulders, looking at the blue skies above, reminding me
how blue his eyes were.
After a few minutes I heard Nicky’s stomach
growling.
“You threw up everything huh?” I said
laughing.
We had some hot dogs to fill Nicky’s stomach
and soon we were looking around the games stall. We passed a small stall and I
was attracted to big blue teddy… the colour matches Nicky’s eyes so much.
“You like it?” Nicky asked. I shook out of my
dream and looks at him.
“Oh… umm… kinda, it reminds me of
something,” I told him as my eyes were still locked into his. He smiles back
and heads to the stall. It was a mini football game with some targets in a goal
post.
“Hey Lad, kick the ball to each target to get
points and win a prize,” said the man.
“How many points do I need for that blue
bear?” Nicky asked pointing at the bear.
“That blue bear? Wow… you’re aiming high
aren’t ya kiddo, 5 bulls eyes,” he said to Nicky.
“It’s okay Nicky… I don’t really need
it,” I said, pulling him away.
“Don’t worry Madison, here, hold my coat will
ya?” Nicky asked as he took of his coat and passed it to me. I just took it
and see him paying the man. Nicky started stretching his legs as the man puts a
basket filled with five footballs. First ball… with a deep breath, he kicks
and a bull’s eye!
“Wow…” I whispered to myself. Followed by
another bull’s eye, third and fourth. Everyone started gathering next to me to
watch Nicky.
“No one ever got this close kiddo… one
more,” said the man. Nicky looks at me with a smile. I smile back to him
giving him a thumb up. With the last kick, Nicky got a fifth bull’s eye. I
started cheering loudly and so did some of the people behind me.
“Well kiddo… good one, here ya go,” the man
replied, passing him the big blue teddy.
“Whoa… it’s heavy too,” Nicky said as he
took the bear. I was still cheering and jumping around Nicky.
“That was amazing Nicky… I can’t believe
you got all five bull’s eye!” I said to him. He smiles back and passed me
the bear.
“Here… I got it for you,” Nicky said.
“Aww… shucks… thanks Nicky,” I said and
kissed him on the cheeks without realising. I looked at the bear and gave it a
big hug. I turned towards Nicky and noticed that he was standing motionless next
to me.
“Anything wrong Nicky?” I asked.
“W… what? Oh… nothing… nothing,” he
replied, shaking his head. I smiled back and we started walking around the fair.
We started playing some other games and winning some prizes, we got on bumper
rides and avoided the spinning teacups. By the time we were done with the mirror
house it was nearly four so we headed back to where we separated.
“Hey… you enjoyed yourself?” Nicky asked. I
nodded at him with a smile.
“It was a great day, I only wished that we
could get on the roller coaster again,” I joked. Nicky’s face turned
completely pale at the sound of ‘roller coaster’.
“There they are… and wow… their holding
hands?” I asked Nicky once I saw my brother and Gillian walking towards us
hand in hand. We started whistling at them once we got closer.
“Cut that out,” Shane scolded us, but not to
harshly.
“Got a girlfriend now? Wanna compete with Mark
eh?” I asked nudging Shane with my elbow.
“You’re really nosy for a girl you know
that?” Shane asked. Gillian giggled at his side.
“Keep him out of your room,” I said to
Gillian as we left. Nicky was really very shy when his sister or my brothers are
around. He hardly speaks to me with them around us, but he was kind enough to
carry the huge teddy for me.
“Where did you get that anyway?” Gillian
asked Nicky.
“Nicky got 5 bulls eyes and won it for me,” I
told Gillian. Nicky just buried his face in the teddy.
“Bulls eye in what?” Shane asked.
“Footie… he’s good,” I told Shane and
noticed Nicky burying his face even deeper. I also noticed Gillian looking at me
with cheeky eyes.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Nick fancies ya,” Gillian whispered. Nicky
quickly looks at Gillian with the reddest face I’ve ever seen and sidesteps
between Gillian and I. I too blushed at what Gillian just told me. I tried
looking at Nicky but always-avoided eye contact… maybe he’s just very shy.
We arrived home just in time for dinner. I
thanked Nicky again for the teddy and we went back home. Mark was arranging the
table and Kian was helping mum in the kitchen. Dad was sleeping in front of the
telly. I went upstairs to change and noticed Nicky’s curtains were close but
the light was on. I sighed that tonight wasn’t show night. I quickly changed
into some casual clothes and settled the teddy on my bed.
“I’ll call you Nicki… with an ‘i’” I
said to the teddy and kissed it on the nose. I then switched the lights off and
headed down to the kitchen to help prepare dinner. In a matter of minutes,
everything was ready.
“Wake your father up will you Madison?” mum
asked. I went over to the hall and noticed dad still sleeping in front of the
telly. I switched the telly off and sat next to dad. He was a very good-looking
man and I appreciate everything that he has been doing to keep everyone under a
roof. I pulled back the hair on his forehead and kissed it.
“Hey Maddy… you’re home already?” Dad
asked as he woke up.
“Yeah dad… c’mon, dinner’s ready,” I
said, pulling him up by his hands. We joined mum and the other brothers for
dinner. We had a nice family dinner and I went back to my room to finish off
what’s left of my homework. For the first time since yesterday, I never had
the urge to peep out the window. Maybe because I’m contented by his company
this whole day.
I woke up refreshed on a Sunday morning. After
washing up I headed downstairs and joined my mum for breakfast. We had some
normal conversation about school and mum’s last visit to Aunt Patricia.
“Go get your brothers dirty clothes would you
dear? It’s Sunday already,” mum told me.
“Again? You know how Shane's room is… gosh…
it's such a pigsty,” I told her.
“No complaining miss, your husband might be a
pig too you know?” she said to me. I didn’t know why but I suddenly thought
of Nicky when she mentioned the word ‘husband’. I shook it out of my head
and I went upstairs to Shane’s room.
“Laundry day!” I shouted as I went into his
room.
“Wha? It’s Sunday?” Shane asked. I just
rolled my eyes and tried walking to the window through all the junk on the
floor. I opened the curtains and lord behold… the ‘pit’ or also known as
Satan’s rubbish bin.
“Maddy!
It’s 9 in the morning!” Shane shouted as he covered himself with the duvet.
“And you should be up, make sure you put this
on before you get up,” I said and tossed him a clean pair of briefs. His hands
reached out and he dragged it back under the duvet like a snake in a zoo trying
to hide from the zookeeper who feeds him.
“Is this even a clothing?” I asked myself as
I pulled something out of the mess.
“That’s just a piece of cloth I got from the
kitchen,” Shane whispered back from under the duvet.
“Why is it here? The kitchen is downstairs,”
I asked him.
“Just hurry it up and leave Maddy… I need
more sleep,” Shane whispered back.
“Oh… hey… are you really serious about
Gillian?” I asked as I tossed the cloth out of the room together with his
dirty briefs and clothes. I could see his head slowly emerging from under the
duvet.
“Gillian?” he asked.
“The amazing hibernating Shane that only awakes
at the name Gillian,” I said sarcastically as I sat on his bed.
“And the sister of the amazing Shane, Maddy who
annoys people when she has the chance too,” Shane replied and got up,
revealing his hairy chest as he rubbed his eyes.
“So are ya?” I asked. He smiled back and it
still looked charming with the messy hair and half opened eyes… on second
thought… no he doesn’t look charming.
“Yep… she’s funny and really thoughtful,”
Shane replied.
“That’s good, I just know you two were good
for each other,” I said back.
“Yeah… and for introducing her to me, you get
to sleep with me,” Shane said as he pulled me back on his bed.
“God! Eww! Your breath stinks! And so does your
bed!” I shouted as I struggled to get out of his hands.
“It’s kinda warm here in this room, I
couldn’t help but sweat in my sleep,” Shane said laughing.
“EWW! GROSS! DISGUSTING!” I shouted and got
up from his bed and left his room, leaving him laughing hysterically.
“Laundry day!” I shouted as I got into Mark
and Kian’s room. I heard some mumbles and suddenly silence.
“Laundry day!” I shouted again and again came
the same mumbles and sudden silence.
“This is fun,” I said to myself as I head to
the window and opened the curtains. Mark was sleeping one side of the room and
Kian at the other side. The bright glare of the sunlight doesn’t seem to
affect these vampires. I walked over to the cupboards and grabbed Mark’s
tennis racket. I squatted under the bed and started dragging Mark’s dirty
clothes from under the bed with the racket. He somehow likes to toss them all
under the bed. Kian on the other hand was as tidy as me. He has a small basket
next to his bed where he puts his laundry.
“Thank you for making my Sunday routine
easier,” I whispered to Kian and kissed him on the forehead before dragging
all the clothes back downstairs. I helped mum with the laundry and I joined my
brothers during their breakfast for a long chat.
It was the evening just at a glance and I was
under the shady tree outside our house, reading my favourite Harry Potter.
Halfway through it, I saw Nicky outside on his lawn, helping his dad, Mr. Henry
Scott, plant some flowers. I smiled at him and he smiled back with a wave.
“Harry Pothead again?” Mark asked as he saw
me reading the book.
“Harry POTTER… at least I’m reading a book
unlike you with your comics,” I replied. He suddenly grabbed my book and
started running to the front lawn.
“Hey!” I shouted and chased after him.
“Want your Harry Pothead back?” Mark teased
me as I still chased him around the lawn.
“Gimme back my book,” I said to him.
“Never… unless you would take my place and
throw the trash out every night,” Mark said, hiding the book on his back.
“No… mom says it’s dangerous at night,” I
replied madly.
“Well… you won’t be seeing Mr. Pothead
anymore then,” Mark teased me again.
“I haven’t finish that book yet Mark! Give it
back!” I shouted and stomp hard on his leg. Mark let out a massive scream and
dropped my book. I quickly picked it up and looked at Mark.
“Oh… you are so gonna get it!” Mark
threatens me and started chasing me around the lawn. I started laughing and
panting as I dodge every attempt of him to catch me.
“Shane! Help me now will ya?” Mark called out
as we saw him talking to Gillian just by the fence.
“Excuse me,” Shane said to Gillian and he too
started chasing after me.
“KIAN HELP!” I shouted and soon my hero came
to the rescue, only to fail again in the arms of Mark.
“Hey that’s not fair you know?” Gillian
said as she stood in front of us with Nicky and Bryan behind her, all with
mischievous looks on their face.
“Umm… Mark… I think we have some
trouble,” Shane whispered.
“Blondes rule!” Gillian said as the three of
them charged towards Mark and Shane. Bryan wrestled Mark together with Kian and
Gillian, Nicky and I pinned Shane to the ground.
“Ow! Okay, okay… we give up,” Shane said as
he and Mark were surrounded by us blondes.
“Yeah! This is our very first win!” Kian said
and high five me.
“Yep… thanks to our new recruits,” I said
looking at Bryan, Gillian and Nicky. They smiled back at us.
“Now… what punishments?” Kian asked rubbing
his hands together.
“Wedgie?” I asked.
“Nah… it’ll definitely irritate Mark as
he’s wearing thongs now,” Kian told the rest.
“Am not!” Mark shouted back, leaving us
laughing hard.
“Permanent Markers?” Kian asked.
“No… mom would kill us since tomorrow is
schooling day,” I replied. We stood there, still thinking of what to do to our
captives.
“I got one!” Nicky said. We looked at him. He
left us for a moment and reappeared with a water hose. Our faces lighten up,
leaving Mark and Shane groaning.
“Fire in the hole!” I shouted and the water
sprayed out.
“It’s COLD!” Shane shouted as we sprayed
him.
“Now suffer!” Kian shouted as he threw a
water balloon at Mark.
“Hey wait… it’s unfair to us too, 5 against
2?” Shane asked.
“What’s your point?” Gillian asked.
After my shower I went over to the dressing
table and started blowing my hair. Right at that moment, I saw Nicky’s
curtains were open and the lights were on. Again my cheeky needs got the best of
me and I quickly flicked the lights off and peep through the window. Moments
later Nicky appeared with only a towel wrapped around his waist.
“Thank you GOD!” I whispered as my eyes were
fixed directly to him. ‘Take it off’ ‘take it off’ said the voice in my
head. With his back facing me, he dropped the towel and a single squeal escaped
my mouth.
“What a hot ass!” I managed to say.
“HEY NICKY! NICE ASS!” Kian shouted which
caused me to trip and fall to the floor. I quickly got up and covered Kian’s
mouth and saw Nicky running to the window and quickly closed his curtains.
“WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?” I shouted
at Kian as I closed the curtains and switch the lights on.
“You’re the one peeping at people,” Kian
told me. I quickly shut up and felt my face burn with embarrassment.
“I’m gonna tell mum,” Kian threatened.
“Oh please… anything but that,” I begged
Kian. He looks at me with the tenderest looking eyes.
“Okay, okay… I won’t, you’re my only
sister with blonde hair you know?” Kian said as he pat my head.
“Thank you! Thank you!” I quickly said,
hugging him.
“Just make sure next time you don’t get
caught, Shane and Mark aren’t as forgiving as me you know?” he told me.
“Yes… Thank you,” I said.
“Anyway, dinner’s ready, let’s go,” Kian
said as we headed downstairs for dinner.
Another morning, but this time, school day. I was
getting sick already, having to wake up early in the morning.
“Morn’ Mum,” I said tiredly as I lay my
head on the dining table.
“Sleep late again last night?” mum asked.
“It was Sunday… I hate Mondays,” I
whispered to her.
“Here,” she said and puts a plate of French
toast in front of me.
“Thanks…” I whispered back started biting
the bread in small pieces.
“Morn’ mum,” said all my three brothers
tiredly as they too lay their head onto the table.
“Don’t tell me… you slept late cause it was
Sunday and you guys hate Mondays too,” mum said. My brothers mumbled some
words which I think was ‘yes’.
After breakfast, I walked out of the house and
saw Nicky and Bryan waiting by Shane’s car. At the sight of Nicky, I regained
my strength and I was in full gear all of a sudden, but I noticed that he was
blushing.
“Morning Nicky,” I said to him.
“Mornin’…” he whispered back softly.
“Apparently he was caught naked in his room
last night…” Bryan said laughing and suddenly Nicky started strangling him.
I myself blushed too, remembering that cute, bubbly… umm…
“Where’s Gillian?” Shane asked and his face
lightens up at the sight of Gillian walking out the house in her school uniform,
but hers was different than mine.
“You’re in Green Hill Girls School?” Kian
asked as he saw her school badge.
“Unfortunately, yeah… my dad works near that
school, so it’s easier for him to drop me off and pick me up,” Gillian said.
I saw Shane’s expression changed from happy to miserable.
“Oh… I thought you were from our school,”
Shane whispered disappointingly.
“I’ll be home by 2, then I’ll come over to
your house okay? Don’t be sad,” Gillian said, holding Shane’s hands. All
of us started cheering.
“Cut that out!” Shane shouted at us and we
stopped.
“Sure… see you,” Shane said and kissed her
on the cheeks. We started cheering again.
“I said cut that out!” he scolded us louder.
“Go now or you’ll be late,” she said to us.
We bid her farewell and left in Shane’s car.
I got to class together with Nicky and it was
math period. I was looking at the question and my mind was totally messed up. It
was the questions on what we learned last Friday. I felt frustrated and confused
at the question, scratching my head like a monkey.
“Having some troubles?” Nicky asked.
“Huh? What?” I replied, looking at him, still
having my hand on my head.
“You look frustrated,” Nicky replied.
“Oh… I… I’m just stuck at this topic,”
I told him with a smile. Nicky smiled back and came over to my table.
“Let me help you,” he said. I blushed as he
pulled his chair over and sat by my table. I noticed some of my classmates were
giving me thumbs up, but I didn’t really bother.
“How about yours?” I asked.
“I’m done,” he replied. I jolted back and
looked at the clock in front of us.
“It’s just 10 minutes when we started… how
could you have finished your work so soon?” I asked.
“Oh… I did the questions last night, it was
just a matter of remembering,” Nicky replied to me. I was amazed, not only was
he smart, he was hardworking too. Never in my mind would I take a look at the
topics we haven’t learnt in school.
“Okay… so this is how you do it,” Nicky
started and I concentrated on his teaching. It was way better than our own
teacher and I understood him clearer and in a matter of minutes I manage to do
it on my own. I was grateful. He just gave me another charming smile and return
to his table to study some Geography, our next lesson.
“I see that you and Nicky got better over the
weekends, what happened?” Tammy asked during lunch break.
“I don’t see what this has anything to do
with you,” I replied, biting my sandwich.
“Oh c’mon, I’m your best friend,” Tammy
begged. I rolled my eyes on her.
“Alright, we went to the fair and we had a some
fun yesterday with my brothers and his bro and sis,” I told her.
“Wow… how does he even know where you stay?
And your brothers?” Tammy asked.
“He was the next door neighbour I told you
about last night,” I told her.
“The one with the cute bum?” Tammy asked
slightly louder than her usual tone.
“Keep it down! No one is to know about this,”
I told her. She apologized hectically. I then saw Nicky looking for a place to
sit with a tray of food he bought from the cafeteria.
“Nicky! There’s a seat here!” I called out
to him. He saw me and started heading towards my girl group table.
“Hi~! Nicky,” the other girls said dreamily.
“Umm… hi,” he said back and sat next to me.
“Whatcha got?” I asked.
“Black pudding… mashed potatoes… and some
of this,” he said, tapping his fork on one hard looking meat. I couldn’t
help but laugh followed by the other girls that were laughing like ghosts. Nicky
looked at us nervously.
“Are you sure I could sit here?” Nicky asked.
“Of course you can, I mean… what could go
wrong?” I asked.
“Hey Nicky! Joining the Barbie’s daily
meeting?” teased Harlem, one of the meanest kids in my class. Nicky ignored
him.
“Hey! Leave him alone!” I shouted at him.
“Yeah!” followed by the other girls.
“Ooo… getting the girls to back up for
you?” Harlem asked and laughed together with his other mates behind him. Nicky
still ignored him as he ate his potatoes.
“Fuck off Harlem!” I shouted at him.
“Yeah!” replied the girls.
“Not till I do this,” Harlem said as he took
the black pudding and spills it onto Nicky’s trousers. The other meanies
started laughing out loud.
“HEY! That’s not good you know?” I shouted
at Harlem and pushed him.
“Don’t you get involve with us okay missy?”
Harlem threatens me with his fiery eyes. Nicky got up and stood between us.
“Leave her alone, rot breath,” Nicky said and
followed by some ‘Oooh’s around the cafeteria.
“You better watch your tongue Scotty boy…”
Harlem threatens him again.
“Or what? Kill me with your breath? God… get
a mint,” Nicky said, avoiding his breath.
“Why you…” Harlem said as he was about to
punch and Shane, Mark, Bryan and Kian appeared from behind us.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Shane
said to him.
“You’re off this time Scotty boy… you
better remember that,” Harlem said and left with his gang.
“Are you alright Nicky?” I asked as I looked
at his stained trousers. He managed to nod and smile at me.
“I’m fine,” he said and wiped some of the
pudding off his pants with a tissue.
“Ooh… I’m gonna get that bastard,” I said
madly.
“Just forget about it Madison,” Nicky said.
“I know how we could get back to him,” Shane
told us.
“Oh? Goody… what is it?” I asked him.
“He’s in the Delta soccer team right? Why
don’t you join us Nicky? We could use someone like you,” Shane said.
“Yeah… Nicky… that’s a good one,” I
replied.
“I don’t know…” Nicky replied.
“Oh c’mon… I’ve seen you kick the
football… you can get back at him in the game, he’s always boasting on how
good his football skills were,” I convinced him.
“Well… it’s worth a shot,” Nicky said
smiling.
“I’ll join too… if there’s space,”
Bryan said.
“There’s always space for our club, we’ve
haven’t got enough members to join the matches,” Mark told him.
“But with Nicky and you, we’re just
perfect,” Kian said.
“Hey… with Nicky in the group, Gamma would surely rise,” I said.
“He’s
really that good huh?” Kian asked.
“I
would bet my life on it,” I told him and saw Nicky blushing.
“All
right then… it’s settled, I’m gonna register our group into the
preliminary matches,” Shane said as he was about to leave.
“Hey…
we’re forgetting something,” I told Shane before we broke off. They looked
at me curiously. I stretched my hand out. Shane smiled and puts his hand on
mine, followed by Mark and Kian. I looked at Nicky and Bryan. They smiled and
put their hand on ours.
“You’re
in the group too?” Bryan asked me.
“Head
cheerleader, but I’ve got no other cheerleaders in it besides Tammy,” I told
him. Suddenly my girls from our table joined in, shouting that they want to be
in our group only because 5 of the best looking guys in school were in it. I
couldn’t wait to see the face of Harlem when we beat him in soccer.
“Okay…
I’ve got the members list and we have 9 members” I asked Tammy. We were out
in my backyard where I decide to hold the cheerleaders of Gamma football club
gathering.
“That’s
a good number, from 2 to 9,” Tammy said. I looked around and I was glad our
backyard was big. All 7 of the extra members were from my group anyway, so we
didn’t have to do any icebreaking session.
“What
do we do now?” I asked Tammy. She raised her shoulders. I looked at the other
girls and they too started mumbling ‘dunno’ to me.
“Oh?
Is the meeting going to be held here?” Kian asked as he saw us from his window
upstairs.
“HI
KIAN~!” all of the girls shouted at him.
“Hi
girls,” he replied with a smile and I heard some ‘aaahh…’ from the
girls.
“God…
Yeah… the meeting would be here, but now… we don’t know what to do,” I
told him.
“Have
you asked Gillian? I heard she used to be a cheerleader,” Mark said as he too
popped out of the window.
“HI
MARK~!” the girls shouted.
“Ugghh…
I’m getting a headache,” I whispered to Tammy. Mark waved back to them and
again I heard some ‘aaahh…’s.
“She
was? Where is she?” I asked.
“I
think Shane’s with her in the kitchen or somewhere,” Mark told me.
“SHANE~!”
the girls screamed again as he popped out of the kitchen door. My head was
seriously spinning.
“Pipe
down!” I shouted at them. Suddenly Gillian too came out.
“I
heard my name… what’s up?” Gillian asked.
“Ooo…
you used to be a cheerleader?” I asked her.
“Yeah…
head cheerleader in my formal school, why?” she asked again.
“She’s
the head cheerleader in our soccer club,” Shane told her.
“Help
us out will you? I don’t know what to do,” I begged her. She smiled back and
agrees. Our group started cheering loudly.
“Usually
we start with stretches, so stand apart from each other and follow me,”
Gillian said as she stood in front of us. We started stretching, our heads,
hands and legs.
“Okay,
for the legs, stretch it out and bend your body forward,” Gillian said as she
did it. Shane, standing behind her, slowly tilted his head as Gillian bent
lower. His eyes were locked on her tight looking bum in stretchable pants.
“Oi~!
Looking at something?” Gillian said as she saw Shane checking her out from
between her legs. Shane jolted back surprised.
“Oh…
umm… I better go over to Nick and Bryan’s house for some soccer practice,”
he said and ran over to their place. I couldn’t help but laugh with Gillian.
“Oh
my Gillian… you better switch positions,” dad said as he came out from the
kitchen, making me burst out laughing even louder on the ground. By the end of
the day we managed to do some flips and jumps thanks to Gillian’s brilliant
teachings. I am starting to think that the Scott family is one family that are
professionals in teaching, except Bryan who wanted to teach me how to drink some
milk from his nostrils. He ended up having milk spraying out of his nostrils
instead because I made a joke while he drank some of it.
I
bid farewell to the others and returned to the backyard with some juice mum made
for Gillian and me. I joined her at the garden chairs. She was watching my
brothers and hers playing soccer over at their place.
“Are
you two together?” I asked Gillian. She looks at me and I can tell by her eyes
they were.
“Don’t
mention it, I know,” I replied with a smile.
“How
about you and Nicky?” she asked.
“What?
Nicky and I? We’re just friends, no more,” I told her, shaking my head.
“That’s
what we all think in the start,” Gillian replied as we both looked at Nicky.
He was enjoying himself, playing with my brothers.
“He’s
cute…” I whispered as I rested my chin on my palms.
“Yes
he is… one strange thing is that you’re the very first girl that he has ever
talked to for a long time,” Gillian said.
“What
do you mean?” I replied curiously.
“He
met a girl when he was younger, I forgotten her name though, but they broke up
months before we moved here, since then he had never spoken to any girls till
you met him,” Gillian explained. I looked at her, and back to Nicky. He saw me
looking at him and he waved back with a smile before continuing his practice.
“Is
that so? I’m not the first then?” I asked disappointingly.
“You
might not be the first, but you were definitely the one who lightened him up,”
Gillian replied.
“I
lighten him up?” I asked again.
“We’ve
never seen him so excited since his break up,” she replied. I smiled back.
“C’mon,
lets show them what we could do with a football,” Gillian suggested. I quickly
nodded and we both joined the boys in a soccer game. It was tough but Nicky
purposely lost to me for the fun of it.
