The Travel Itch !!
I love to travel
Particularly to the wild and beautiful Northern Areas of Pakistan.
Right from the good old college days till now , I have taken a break
every now and then , to visit my beloved mountains.
The north of Pakistan is composed mostly of towering peaks and lush green valleys , as you move further north , towards the Karakoram range bordering China and Pakistan , the scenery changes to that of wild glaciers and snow . Most famous is the K2 ( also called as Mount Godwin Austin ) the second highest mountain in the world & Nanga Parbat
( the killer mountain , named so because of the number of lives that have been
lost during expeditions here ) the ninth highest in the world and 2nd highest
in Pakistan. It was first climbed by an Austrian Herman Buhl.

The largest glaciers in the world outside of the polar caps are in Pakistan , i.e Siachin , Baltoro , Biafo and Hopar.

The KARAKORAM HIGHWAY is referred to as the
Eighth Wonder of the world. It is a road which has been literally carved out of the impossible mountains
( click on link below to see the MAP ).

To travel on this road is an adventure for the really BOLD and courageous.

On the lesser notes , the valleys of KAGHAN , SWAT and CHITRAL
are chunks out of heaven itself .
