17       I wll now begin the record abstracts from the South Carolina State Archives......Photostates can be had for most of these papers. The wills are typed copies (About 5% incorrect when compared with the original file in the county seats) and it is best to get photostats of the certified copies from the county seats where these wills show.... The first will be the IMMIGRANT LISTS from the Council Journals

18      COUNCIL JOURNAL dated 22 Dec 1767 and lately arrived from Ireland these men appeard and asked for Bounty Land.

John McClelland and allowed 350a for himself and family.

Robert McClelland ,age 19, and single ...allowed 100a land to be taken at Long Canes,                                            Granville County, if suitable land can be found there.

19       COUNCIL JOURNAL dated 22 Dec. 1767...Arrived from Ireland on the Ship, Earl of                                               Dengal....These families( List of some 10 or more)

Dougald Ballentine   age 50....allowed 100a

  Elizabeth Ballentine  age 50
          William Ballentine
   age 22....allowed 100a

  MARGAET MCCLELLAN  age 21*

Elizabeth Ballentine   age 17....allowed 100a
          Mary Ballentine
age 19
          Robert Ballentine
age 11
          Mary McKinney
age 70**

* Margaret McClellan is likely the daughter of Dougald Ballentine.
       **
Mary McKinney is likely the mother of Mrs. Elizabeth Ballentine.

I did not check the Ballentine Land Grants...Dougald did not get as much land as he  was entitled to.

19a        Arriving same date and same ship were :

James McClelland age 48

Catherine McClelland   age 48

Henry McClelland age 14

Martha McClelland age 8

William McClelland age 3

Robert McClelland age 19

John McClelland  age 10
Note #18 at same date where John McClelland got 350a and Robert McClelland got 100a.... Evidently an error for John McClelland aged 10 would not have been allowed any land.....James McClelland with a wife and 4 children under age 16 would of been allowed 350a....Robert McClellan, over age 16 and 19, would have been allowed 100a

20           On the Ship James and Mary arrived from Ireland  (Several Families) I am sorry I forgot to check the Council journal Date..Think 1768.
