| This page is for my husband's Rockwell ancestry , and the reason that I started into my family hunting. My husband and I had been married for 11 years when we finally bought a computer and went on the Internet. I had known throughout my marriage that my mother-in-law did not know her father and had no idea if he was living or deceased. I couldn't imagine not knowing who your father was, outside of a name and an old location. So in my smug :-) way I said that I would find him on the Internet. Needless to say I did not know how frustrating this could be or the wonders that I would find along the way. So I sat with my mother-in-law and gathered all the information that she had about her father and family. Unfortunately she did not know very much, but with a name, where he was in 1933, and whom he married, off I go to begin my search. During my search I also started looking for my father's side of my family. We had lost contact with them in 1980 and I had no idea where to start looking. Now my mother-in-laws maiden name was ROCKWELL and mine was JONES. Rockwell was by far a lot easier to trace than Jones. I started the search in April of 1998 and in July of the same year I found my sister that I had not seen in 18 years. After talking with her and sending instant messages for a month she made a suggestion that led to finding my mother-in-laws father's family. Her suggestion was to e-mail every Rockwell in the state that I last knew him to be in. I sent out 17 e-mails and received one response. The response I received turned out to be my husbands third cousin and he had information on this Rockwell family that dated back to 1500 in England. We found out that the Rockwells descend from Deacon William Rockwell,Dorset, England. A couple of weeks after we exchanged information with our found family and made sure we were talking about the same Albert Rockwell, a request came from another Rockwell cousin for my mother-in-law to please give him a call. With a little hesitation my mother-in-law gave him a call and was greatly rewarded when he said that he had something for her. He had two photos of her father and was sending them to her, with the only request being that she send back a copy to him. These pictures are the only ones that we know of to this day. When I received our copies I was very surprised, my grandfather-in-law and my husband looked so much alike it was unreal. After this kind of results in my search I was hooked, and continue to search for more family. |

| The majority of the information that I have on this Rockwell family came from the work that was done by Houser Rockwell, which was a 1st cousin, 1x removed to Albert Edwin Rockwell. When I was able to locate family in Wisconsin, they were very generous in sharing this family history. Our Rockwell family descends from William "Deacon" Rockwell and Susanna Capen.It is said that they arrived in this country on the John & Mary in 1630, arriving in Massachusetts |
