| Jorgen August Friis Frederiksen was born in Pillemark, Onsbjaerg, Holbaek, Denmark. He is one of four children by Niels Christian Frederiksen and Ingeborg Jorgendatter. He came to this country in 1883 and settled in or around Joliet, Illinois. He married Greta Mary Peterson ( Pederson ) in 1888 in Joliet, Illinois. Mary arrived in this country in 1886, also from Denmark. In my research I have found evidence that Mary's last name may of been Pederson, but with the way immigration officals were they would of spelled it Peterson. On their marriage certificate I find both Peterson and Pederson. Jorgen was known to family as August, and I only found his birth name when searching for information on this family. August and Mary had 10 children and eventually settled in Redwood Falls, Minnesota |
