Vladislav Evseev Profile Contributed By: Bob Willwerth
History
A 2001 highly rated prospect, Evseev was a sure top
10 draft pick entering the 2001-02 season. In 2000-01 he was excellent
in the WU17 scoring 5 goals in 5 games. A shoulder injury befell him
during the season causing him to sit out the second half of the 2001-02
season, the injury was not serious. He continues to to rehab. The Bruins
considered drafting Vlad No. 1 but settled on Hannu Toivonen, as Evseev
dropped to mid second round the Bruins traded up to St.Louis's pick to
acquire his rights.
Talent Analysis
Evseev has good size and plays an all-around game. He can skate and
shoot the puck very well. He has a ton of potential but sometimes lacks
focus and finishing skills time will tell.
Future
The Bruins think highly of the Dynamo Jr. grad. His skills are
comparable to Alexi Yashin by Bruin scouts' estimates. The Bruins will
leave Evseev in Russia for the next season or two. The WJC team awaits
him. Vlad will be a future Bruin if he stays injury free and focuses on
his game.
