| Batawagama Band Camp |
| Well I have only spent 2 weeks of my whole life at camp, but it has been so much fun, and so rewarding, that it earns it's spot. Last year my instructor was Marty Erickson, and this year it was John Stevens from Univ of Wisc Madison. He is the greatest teacher. I learned so much this week, from him and from our director Mr Glocke. I cried at the end of our concert even though I said I wouldn't.....because I have met so many wonderful people these last 2 years... and I will never be a camper at Batawagama. Though someday I will go back. I'll tell you a little about the people I met there... friendships that I hope, we last as long as my memories will. Low brass taps, sectionals, "Cows", Batawagama Stomp, Counselor Chris...and everything else WONDERFUL about camp. Lee~ one of our euphoniums, who made sectionals great...and full band (when I got to sit by him) He is a great person, and he had better keep in touch, and keep up with his music. Andy~ Julie's crush, and giver of good back massages, though he doesn't think he gives good ones. We had hoped to sit next to eachother, though our hopes were smashed by some weird chair assignments. But anyway, he's a great person to talk to, with his bursts of gradnfatherly quotes, and other offhand wisdom. Amanda~ beat me again for 1st chair.....and was always asking if I was mad or if I hated her... no I don't, but I wasn't all that happy that you got 1st 2 years in a row. Jill~ A very UPBEAT and cheerful person..... sorry if I didn't talk a lot...... Sarah~ our very hyper youngest tuba player.... she was in my cabin and was also my fellow shaker in the skit because we missed dance rehearsals because of sectionals.... Krystal~ I've known her a long time, because she is local.... a very sweet girl, who lays on beds with her legs spread... and likes to talk a lot. In my cabin. Stacy~ another local....likes to talk, and had a sort of hard time feeling left in the dust, but I've known her for a long time...she informed me of the Sam/Ian breakup. In my cabin Abby~another local... she is in GS with me, I think at least.... she is a cutie... who is just FUN to be around. :) The rest of my cabin Chena Tina Holly Becky Sarah Audry Leslie Katelin and our leader Ashley Other people~ ~Bill and Brian, 2 trombones who played taps with us on the last night... thanks guys ~Jeff and Jeff~Abby liked one... and the other one played percussion |
