So-Shihan

 

'So-Shihan' is a title awarded to Karate Practitioners with a seventh degree black belt or above for merit or accomplishment in the art.

So-Shihan Moses Thilak was born in a well-known Kshathriya (Warrior class) family in South Travancore (South India). Obviously his ancestors had a history of Martial arts and encounters including saving the lives of Kings.

So-Shihan Moses Thilak holds a 8th Dan black belt in karate (Shito Ryu Style) and has been practicing the art for more than 35 years. At first he had been practicing various other martial arts, and was introduced to Karate by Sensei Stephen from Malaysia. Then when Sensei Stephen returned to Malaysia he began training under Sensei Alan Dwyer, who himself had trained under Sensei Kenei Mabuni. He later went to Japan to study under Sensei Mabuni. So-Shihan Moses Thilak has been appointed the sole representative of Shito Ryu Karate Do in India by Sensei Mabuni. He has also been the Indian National Chief Coach for Karate since 1981.

So-Shihan Moses Thilak is also an expert of the sai, bo, nunchaku and other weapons. He is also a master in Kalaripayattu and Maramani (pressure points). He also holds a doctorate in acupuncture.

So-Shihan Moses Thilak founded the Alan Thilak Shito Ryu Karate Do to promote the Art of Karate in India. It is one of the premier Karate Schools in India. He is also the Chairman and Chief Technical Director of the All India Karate Federation (AIKF) which is affiliated tof the World Karate Federation, the foremost Karate federation in the world. He is simply a super master and his students are a pride of India. He always says
