Magic once ruled the world, and powerful magicians were commonplace throughout the land. Today, however, after the trials of the Demon King and the Holy King, Strong magic is rare. While many people know the basic cantrips and curatives, only a few are able to battle with the forces of magic, though most of the old spells have been lost in the annals of history. The 'master magicians' of today are those who have mastered only the spells currently held in recent record.
A common misconception is that one's affinity- the elemental alignment given at birth- is the only school of magic one can learn. This is not so. It merely means that that individual will be BETTER at that school's magic, in fact, one with a particular elemental affinity need not master any of that school's magic.
A magician can learn the magics of three schools. This is because each of the schools is mutually exclusive to another school. If a Magician learns fire magic, he will not be able to cast water spells; an earth magician could not learn wind magic, and a moon magician could not learn sun magic.
Each school has a particular underlying theme in its magic, though all obtain both attack and curative spells.
Sun Magic is the strongest of the schools in regards to attack magic. Moon Magic seeks to cause insanity in its enemies, through illusion and fear. Wind magic focuses on speed and confusion, strengthening the caster and his or her allies. Fire magic balances between harsh attack magic and healing, protective spells. Earth Magic seeks to defend the caster and impede its caster's enemies. Water magic seeks to drain the strength from the magician's opponents, as well as causing them to fall under the caster's control.
