To� my little spot on the map, My��Home...Morgan City.
These picture shows you the river�that run through� our town.
The river is the "Atchafalaya" which� is an indian words "hacha"�� "falaia"meaning "The Long River".�� The Atchafalaya run out into the Gulf�� of Mexico. There is two bridges� that� run to the west and east, on
Highway 90, which in the near future� will be Interstate 49 though South Louisiana. The Picture of our bridges above is from the local paper from our town...The DailyReview....Http://www.daily-review.com/
I have live here all my life, my family� are true cajuns.
The second picture is a train bridge�that lift up� to lets boats and ships traveling through to the Gulf,or to�� the North..The third picture is the Great Seawall that protects Morgan City from flooding. What you're looking at� is the main gate that close when�� the water come up to flood the town.
Oh! that boat in the river is a shrimp boat use to go into the Gulf for the� jumbo Shrimps, deep water� fishing... Hope you like my� town, it small but it's "Home Sweet Home"....

Let me tell you a little about� myself.
I'm a cajun woman, born & raise on
the Atchafalaya river. My dad was a lumber man and made his living cutting trees.We lived in a house (camp) boat.Our home was pulled by a boat from place to places,then tie to the trees along the bank of the river.
We were eight childrens and Mom &Dad. Money was hard to come by but it was a good time..happy time. I would love to go back to that life in a heart beat but all that left of it is memories.
Today I am living just two blocks from the river and will live here for the rest of my life.The Atchafalaya will always be in my heart and in my life and in my very soul.............
