The registry of lost ships was created as a place to put those ships who's owners have been deleted for a period of approximate or exceeding one mun month. This became necessary due to a number of screen names being deleted and no notice given to the RoSoG pertaining to their ships, or how to dispose of them. For reasons of low shipwright participation (less than 40% of all registered builders registering ships on a consistent basis) and primarily being built only for few individuals, the RoSoG decided these ships would be recycled into active play. After considerable debating on the best method that would NOT benefit the RoSoG nor it's staff, two decisions were reached to recycle lost ships.
To encourage participation by the shipwrights, the first of the two methods was enacted. All shipwrights who submit ships for registration over two consectutive weeks are returned to them one ship from the lost ship registry. In order to keep things neutral, the method devised to select ships is this : the first ship listed that was originally built by that shipwright will be the ship "returned" to them. If they do not have ships they built within the lost ship registry, then it would come out of the list of NPC built ships (listed under Tersites). Once those were depleated, then the ships would come from the list of those shipwrights which are deleted (starting with Raini Nyte).
Shipwrights are collectively sent a notice stating who has earned ships for the previous week on the beginning of each new week (Sunday). At the time the notice is received, they are required to submit a name for the newly awarded ship so that it may be transferred to them. If they wish to see which ship has been awarded to them, they simply scan the registry listing below and find their name in the owner's slot.
The second method devised was a bit more complex, but more enjoyable to those seeking interactive role-play with a short-term story line. Each month, a story line would be announced that would allow all currently listed ship owners a chance to participate, giving them the opportunity to attain some of the lost ships. Outside of races and contests of skill with their ships, other ideas were presented that would call for a raffle to determine who would be able to be involved in the story line to get the ships that would be placed up for grabs. Each month, the scribe of the RoSoG will send out a notice, announcing the story line and giving information on who to contact to participate. This will vary from month to month, as will the number of ships available to be "won".
***NOTE*** Ships will not be transferred to the shipwrights until they submit a name for their ship. Once they have turned in the ship's new name, it will be listed in red on the owner's roster under their name. If they do not submit a name for the ship (collect their ship) within 5 mun days, they will lose that ship and it will be awarded at a later date.
Further information may be obtained by contacting the RoSoG Administration. Below is the current list of lost ships.
