| Getting There |
| My day started off rather nicely. I woke up at a normal time of 8 (not like last year where I woke up at 5) and my mom and I went to pick up my Grandma and then off to the airport. My dad met us there and we waited around till my plane was to take off. It was then my grandma expressed her concerns that I was getting into a cult� yes, Scapers are rather cult like. I went through the security and promptly set off the alarms. I had on a metal belt with little metal rings in my shoes. At least they didn�t make me take them off. Got on the plane, got to charlotte, ran to my other flight, sat there for a bit and got on the prop to Cincy. Rather uneventful flights I had. I got off in Cincy and was walking down the hall when I see a girl sitting wearing a purple shirt and jeans� LIN!! I finally get to meet my twin in person! It is always so weird when I meet someone I�ve known for 2 years for the first time, in person� it�s like you�re not shy cause you already know the person, but very weird, cause you�ve never met them. Well, we waited for Kate and the hotel guy came and asked us if we were with the ScaperCon organization� we found Kate, and someone else from the BB. I think we really freaked her out cause Kate, Lin, and I talked about shipper related things, and to unknowing ears, it�s a pretty scary thing. I also warned them about ScaperCon, since none of them have ever been to one before. We get in the van and head over to the Marriott and talk mostly about Stargate. I realized many times during that van ride why Lin is my twin� it�s freaky online, but just plain weird in person when someone says something you�re thinking. We get to the hotel and there was no one there� it was totally empty. Everyone was away getting ready for con stuff� since most of our friends are registration people, they were busy working. Nick came down to get Lin and I and took us up to our room where we met Laurie. Kate was on the same floor, so she came by also. It was then I heard the news that our Speare writer/director wouldn�t be coming to SC. Big time heart attack. All of us went down to the bar to wait for the masses of Scapers we hoped would come down soon. Twinkies were talked about <shudder> among other things I�m sure the Quote List will tell. Lin and I had to go up to the room for a second and when we came down and stepped out of the elevator, I heard some voices behind me� I turn and there are Mama Crichton�s Daughters! With newly cut hair� Hugs and hellos and how are you were exchanged and then we took off for Applebee�s. Kathe, Shaye, Sarah, Natalie, Paulie, Lin, Kate, Cristin, and I had our food (and I had my Bloody Mary- Yum!) and then headed back to the hotel where we met up with Rachel, Phil, & Gigi. We all piled into the Daughters room and I gave Lin her very late birthday present� a tee shirt with a vampire girl on it saying �Beware�I�ll bite.� There was also a �I poke badgers with spoons.� Sticker in there. We talked till about 2 or 3 and headed back to our own room to get a tiny amount of sleep. Wow� sleeping in a room with three other people, bound to be someone who snores or makes some sort of noise� Laurie, Nick, and Lin all started making some kind of sleeping noise and me, wide awake, starring at the ceiling. Just as suddenly as they started, they stopped and there was dead silence- it was *really* freaky. I fell asleep and then later I woke up cause it was super hot. I went to turn down the air and five minutes after I got back in bed, I see Lin going to turn the air down even more. It finally got cold in the room and I fell asleep for a bit till I had to wake up again. |
