Virginia Hey
Vulkon Convention
November 17-18th
I came up with my parents, where a normal drive up to Orlando would take three and a half hours, but this took 5 hours. So, by the time we actually got to the hotel, it felt like we had been traveling all day.
I came in and was reminded of ScaperCon... the bar was crowded, smoke was *everywhere* and freaks of every type were walking through the halls. Ahhh... felt just like home... except for the freaks part :) Finally met Gigi, Dani, and Gigi's friend Rachel. Sat with them for a while, then I crashed in my room pretty early.
Home

Saturday morning I woke up and headed to Gigi and Dani's room. We went down and I got a glimpse of the dealers room. Hee!!! I love dealer rooms!!! Except I got really freaked out when a Klingon (I think that what it was) came up behind Amanda and I and started growling.... repeaditely. And he wouldn't go away. After that, we stood in line to meet Ginny and get some autographs. But first we met James Doohan, which was pretty cool. I have never watched a Star Trek episode, but everyone knows who Scotty is.
So then we stood in line for Ginny-- which was really long cause Ginny likes to talk! :) We finally got up to see her and she had to go to lunch, but she was nice enough to stay for me. I got her to sign some pics and then I gave her the little baby DRD. She loved it and she gave me a big hug over the table!! HEE!!! I was hugged by GINNY!!!!
Everyone says how sweet she is and what a wonderful person she is, but you can never really tell until you actually meet her in person. She is so completly great!! You gotta love Ginny
After that we messed around until Jimmy went on stage and the Ginny came on to talk. I recorded her entire show so that I can listen to it again, and I got some VHS recordings. She is as funny as she is sweet. I was cracking up at some parts, such as the Anthony story about Female Prowler Pilots. Well after that, Gigi, Rachel, Dani, and I went out to get dinner--actually it came to us-- pizza, then we went to look around CompUSA where Gigi bought a very nice toy. Came back, watched some TV, visited the bar, and then crashed for the night.
I woke up the next morning, had breakfast, and Rachel bargained for a signed Mara Jade picture for Gigi and I (which made us very happy) and then I had to leave... which was just in time, because the entire way back I was so sick and just felt like dying.
So there we go! my GinnyCon expierence. :) I can actually say now that I've been to a Star Trek con and some of those people scare me. I thought Scapers were bad... no, these are really the people who live in their mom's basements spending all their time and money on ST stuff. Scary.
But there were also really nice people there... as Lin has pointed out.. it's with anything, I guess. There are scary people and at the same time, really sweet people.
But I do have to say that the entire weekend was very enjoyable and if I could do it again, I most definetly would!
