This is the queen of our fleet & my favorite, the Magellan 35-17. She is not fast with 6 tons of wood and lead, but has that old world feel, & can carry lots of Scouts. We call her our hundred foot boat... because... she looks good from a hundred feet. We took her to Catalina in April on a Friday night in 20 Kts of exciting wind. We got wet & (two of our new Sea Scouts discovered seasickness for the first time) but made it with no worries. She has a new bottom, a used replacement Perkins diesel, that runs like a top on almost no fuel. The aft cabin is a nice touch for adults to sleep seperate from the youth. If you like to tinker around on boats and sail a little, please join our Ship!
The boat partly shown on the right is the '26 wooden boat (with a nice 15 Hp. smooth running outboard motor) that we would like to sell. As you can see, she has full canvas. You should see the craftsmanship in this beauty. It is most impressive. We might be able to throw in a trailer for her. I'll post better pictures later.
Below us a pic of the Magellan motoring away from Catalina. |
