Yoshi doesn’t discuss his past much. As a the guitarist “Shintaro,” he doesn’t want too many people knowing about him. His J-Rock band is up and coming, so he’s cultivating the mystery that goes with the territory.

The one thing he won’t hide, is the fact that he studied for several years in the martial arts. He has combined a few styles into something that is definitely flashy, just like his stage persona. Yoshi uses the passive aggressive take-downs of Aikido, the fluid grace of kung fu, and the sheer viciousness of kenpo. He’s melded them into a form that is uniquely his. One unique aspect of his fighting style is that he has become particularly adept at avoiding attacks which would damage his face.

As a singer, he’s been trained in conventional European opera as well as Japanese opera. He uses his voice to all extremes while on stage.

As a person, Yoshi is easy going and friendly with a fondness for amateur, Japanese manga (doujinshi).

Of everything he owns, even beyond his favorite guitar, Yoshi is most attached to one half of a yinyang pendant he purchased at a curio shop two years ago. He firmly believes that the pendant is his good luck charm. In the two years that he got the pendant, Jade Mirror (Kagami no Hisui - his band), has gotten signed to a major Tokyo label and then went on tour with the extremely popular Gackt. He is fiercely defensive of the pendant and will do harm to anyone who would forcibly take it from him.

Style: Yoshi tends to favor jeans and button up shirts (so that he can unbutton them and show some skin). As “Shintaro,” he wears a lot of leather and silks, plus a collar with stones that match his eyes. The streak in his hair is usually green, but it has been known to be violet, blue, red, gray, and gold. It is in the Shintaro guise that he prefers to fight, should he have the opportunity to choose.

Fighting Techniques--

‘Playing-With-Fire’ – This is a mostly aikido move where Shintaro uses his opponent’s arms against them to wrap them up and then he kicks into their back. As he does so, he charges his leg with ki to send them sprawling.

‘Chasing-Shadows’ – Shintaro moves his hands in a series of different feints to get the opponent confused before launching a final, devastating strike with a ki charged fist.

‘Scream-of-the-Bane-Sidhe’ – Shintaro has an interest in some aspects of Irish myth and folklore. To this end, he uses his considerable range of vocals to create vibrations in the air to disorient and damage his opponent. The damage is minimal, mostly a few moments of deafening to the opponent, but it leaves them in a state of vertigo that lasts a few seconds. This move is very straining to his vocal chords and overuse will permanently damage his voice.

Weakness: Yoshi is a vain person. His face is part of his career as well as his voice. Should he receive a physical attack to either, he would most likely cover and try to get out of the fight as quickly as possible. This vanity only applies to fighting, however, and shouldn’t be construed as a character flaw.

Should his prized pendant be torn from him in a fight, Yoshi will go to great lengths to recover it immediately.
