1. Humans*: The most numerous, and plain race in terms of abilities. Their is rarely an occasion, however, when you find two humans that look exactly the same. Though they are the most plain, they are also the most versatile. They can take on any job, and do it efficiently. While they have no real outstanding features, the humans also have no real draw-backs.
2. Elves: Distant cousins of the Fae, Elves are the second most numerous race in the land. With a lighter frame than Humans, what they lack in strength and stamina is made up for with their superior agility - both in thought and movement. Elves are capable in all classes, though they function poorest in the role of pure fighter. They are skilled mages, and have keen eyesight, making them excellent archers. The average Elf stands taller than most Humans, being well over six feet. Most have fair skin and long, straight hair, though there are individual Elves who chose a darker life reflected in their outward appearance.
3. Dwarves: Dwarves are relatively short (in Human terms), stocky and powerfully-built creatures. Long-lived and extremely sturdy, they are known equally as well for their hardiness as for their cantankerous personalities. Their thick, stout frames lend them poor dexterity, but high strength and stamina. This race has produced some of the most renowned fighters. Dwarves possess the inherent ability to see in the dark with infravision. Dwarves average from four foot five inches and five feet tall.
4. Kobolds: Anthropomorphic dog-men, to put it bluntly. The Kobolds live mainly in the Kobold village, or on one side of Two Rivers in the Jowston region. While they are known for their typically bad speech patterns, there are some Kobolds who have developed excellent speaking skills. There are no two Kobold which look the same, and their personalities are as different as their appearances. Usually standing anywhere from between four feet, to six feet tall, the Kobolds fair well as swordsman due to their strength, and stamina, but poorly as spellcasters, due to their handicap of wisdom and intelligence.
5. Wingers: A more mysterious race, now found sparsely through the Two Rivers regions between the humans and the Kobolds. while mostly human in appearance, the Wingers possess the claws of a hawk as feet, and leathery, bat-like wings. They range quite a bit, the same way humans do, but fair poorly in the way of the mage. They are quick beings, with amazing agility and prowess usually with spear-like weapons. They make excellent warriors and thieves.
6. Drow: Drow are the darker, more evil cousins of Elves. They were once part of the happy community of Elves which roam the forests today, but have long since moved under the ground, building vast subterranean cities and complex networks of caves. Drow have deep brown, to black skin, white hair, red eyes, and are moderately weaker and have a more slight constitution than average humans. Still, like all Elves, they have a slightly higher dexterity than men. Members of this race specialize in spell casting, and have thus developed a very high intelligence. Being creatures of darkness the Drow tend to fight more proficiently in the darkness, and have innate infravision with which to discern objects and living things in the absence of light.
7. Tabaxi: The Tabaxi race is rare to come across, living deep within the most thick forests and jungles, or mountains in tribalistic communities. They are the opposite of the Kobolds, being anthropomorphic Cats. Generally speaking, the Tabaxi have tawny fur with brown spots, or occasionally stripes. They, like the elves, are close to nature and harbor an innate swiftness, and fleetfootedness that allows them to move across areas stealthily and undetected. The Tabaxi tend to be less well developed than the other races, due to the fact that they believe modernization is a perversion of nature, and prefer to stay close to Her at all times. Tabaxi have soaring minds and great strength, allowing them to work efficiently in all areas and occupations, but the most common are warrior, or shamans. The Tabaxi are under the rule of the Felis Sehyrain, or Cat Lord, and they are part of a Matriarchal society.
8. Harpies: Other races tend to refer to the Harpy race as the Fallen Angels. Harpies, like the Tabaxi, are a rare race to come across, appearing generally only in deep, secluded valleys, or out undiscovered mountain ranges. The Harpies are humans in almost all respects save one; the huge pair of wings that are naturally attached to their backs. Like humans, the Harpies range in appearance, with different colored wings as well. The only difference is that in the Harpy communities, each member is quite beautiful, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. This includes both males and females, with slender builds and long, flowing hair of various colors, and crystal clear eyes of all hues. The Harpies have keen minds, but their bodies are not as prone to fighting as the other races. Their fragile exteriors make for poor warriors, as they have low constitutions, and physical strength. But their power lies in their ability to be conniving and seedy. The Harpies tend to use the other races as they see fit, and then dispose of them when they are no longer needed.
9. Other: If you have an original character that does not fit one of these races, contact one of the founders, or propose the race at the end of a post, and they will be taken into consideration for adding to the list.
*There are subcategories of humans, such as the Sorcerians, who are prodigies of Magic, or the Bladers, prone simply to physical battle.
