| PONTYPRIDD'S LOSTPROPHETS have been confirmed to play on the NME carling Tour travelling around the country during January and February. The welsh metallers are second from the top of the bill, beneath just Andrew WK. The other acts playing are American band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Wirral group The Coral. James Oldham, Deputy Editor of NME, told honk, "There are a few reasons why Lostprophets have been included on the bill. Firstly, they've got a lot of support amoung NME writers, and represent one of the most exciting prospects for British rock music. Plus, they're representing a credible British alternative to a sound which is dominated by American bands at the moment. "We booked them as the last out of the four bands, as we made a decision to half the bill American and half domestic. They were the second of the domestic acts to programme after The Coral: two extremely exciting bands. "Too be honest, there's the commercial aspect as well. They're increasingly popular and they're all good looking lads - they're not going to scare the horses, are they?" The band issued a joint statement to the media saying, "We're excited about coming back to the UK for another tour - combat ready; battle tested!" The band are playing an exclusive Radio 1 session in wales gig at the glamorgan University Students' Union on December 13th. The concert will be broadcast live on the show and 300 tickets are available for what session in wales producer Ed Richmond calls "an exclusive homecoming gig at the end of an amazing year for the band." "To get hold of the free tickets, listen to the show on Thursday 6 Decemeber, 8-10pm on Radio 1 or check out our website at www.bbe.co.uk/sessioninwales. Support on the night will come from up comin south wales hip hop crew, Fleapit." As Honk went to press, staff at Spillers Records in Cardiff on Novemember 29 were expecting a signing session by the band to be really very busy. |
