Driving Directions

The club is in the NE corner of Plainfield on the border of Hawley to the North. The Rod and Gun Club Pond appears on many larger scale maps.

From Pittsfield: 40-45 minutes

  1. Take Route 9 East to the Center of Cummington (watch out for police from Windsor on)
  2. Go Left on Main Street (follow sign to 116)
  3. Take first left on Plainfield Rd
  4. Plainfield Rd becomes South Central as you enter Plainfield
  5. Continue uphill on South Central 
  6. Continue across 116 at a 4-way intersection  (South Central becomes North Central)
  7. You will stay on the paved road which veers sharply to the right (becomes North Union Street)
  8. North Union St becomes North St. and has some awe-inspiring twists and turns but stay on the main road
  9. The club is the last cluster of buildings on the left before you enter Hawley

From Northampton: 40-45 minutes

  1. Take Rte. 9 West into and just past the center of Goshen (watch out for police)
  2. Go right on Rte. 112 North
  3. Drive 4-5 minutes and go left on Rte 116 116 West/North (whatever!) (you are in Ashfield-more police!)
  4. Ashfield Police are serious about their mission – take it easy
  5. Cross into Plainfield and breath a sigh of relief
  6. After entering Plainfield take the second right onto Bow Street
  7. Bow St. twists and turns the takes a hairpin left turn and becomes Grant St
  8. Grant St ends at North St.
  9. Go right on North St
  10. The club is the last cluster of buildings on the left before you enter Hawley

From Greenfield:  40-45 minutes

  1. Take Rte 2 West just past ShelburnFalls
  2. Take  112 South towards Ashfield and Goshen
  3. Buckland and Ashfield Police are serious about their mission – take it easy
  4. If it’s mud season or snowing and you don’t have 4 wheel drive continue past the blinking yellow light and go right on rte 116 116 West/North (whatever) (then follow directions “From Northampton” # 4 onwards)
  5. Otherwise take a right, at the blinking yellow light, in Ashfield, on Hawley Rd.
  6. Stay right on Hawley Rd at the first fork
  7. Continue several miles mostly uphill
  8. The road turns to dirt
  9. Go right at the T-intersection (Hawley Rd)
  10. The road veers left, becomes Ashfield Rd and passes between large agricultural fields
  11. Go left at the T-intersection on Plainfield Rd. the Hawley fire station is in front of you
  12. Go approximately 1.75 miles and the club is on your right immediately after entering  Plainfield

From Adams:  40-45 minutes

  1. Take Rte 2 East to Charlemont
  2. Go Right on 8A across the bridge
  3. Take an immediate left at the T-intersection on South River Rd
  4. Take first right onto East Hawley Rd.
  5. Go up, Up, UP and be glad you’re not on a bicycle
  6. This part of the drive will take at least 10 minutes
  7. You’ll pass an old town hall and the Hawley fire station on the right
  8. You are now on Plainfield Rd
  9. After the fire station go approximately 1.75 miles and the club is on your right immediately after entering Plainfield

From Amherst:  45-55 minutes

  1. Take 116 West/North (whatever) just through the center of Ashfield
  2. Ashfield Police are serious about their mission – take it easy
  3. If it’s mud season or snowing and you don’t have 4 wheel drive take a left at the blinking red light/stop sign onto rtes 112&116 and thengo right on rte 116  West/North(whatever!) when it splits from 112 (then follow directions “From Northampton” # 4 onwards)
  4. If the weather is fine go straight ahead at this 4-way onto Hawley Rd
  5. Stay right on Hawley Rd. at the first fork
  6. Continue several miles mostly uphill
  7. The road turns to dirt
  8. Go right at the T-intersection (Hawley Rd.)
  9. The road veers left, becomes Ashfield Rd and passes between large farm fields
  10. Go left at the T-intersection on Plainfield Rd. the Hawley fire station is in front of you
  11. Go approximately 1.75 miles and the club is on your right immediately after entering Plainfield
