I am a former editor of the "zine world" on AOL. You probably don't recognize my zine, or club, as I called it, as it was fairly small. The Grab Bag was established on March 7, 1998. We had a few special features not found in other zines, but as far as layouts were concerned, we were pretty much conservative, and I could go on and on.

This past March/April, I made a decision. I did not have the time to devote to running a weekly zine, so although it was hard for me to do so, I resigned from my two year position as Manager. Many would have disagreed with my decision to let a member take over, but hey, it's not my zine anymore. Besides, you can just think of it as a little "style change," which most do anyway.

Although I am no longer an editor, I still want to contribute to the zine world in some way. While I still had my zine, I did have a mini company, but both became hard to manage, so I dropped the company. Now that I no longer have the responsibility of running a full-scale zine, I can go back to simply assisting other zines with what I liked best, web and graphic designing. I must admit I am horrible at creating the "eye-catching" AOL layouts and ads that just seem to be a necessity for "good" zines these days, but I am available for management questions and web or graphic services.

Shining Light will sponsor zines, newsletters, etc. that we would support. The rules are simple; it *must* be appropriate for all ages, or PG-13 material *must* be noted, and we must be recognized as a sponsor. Here is what we can do for you:

WEBPAGE This would be one HTML document that we design based on with information that you give us. Basically any effect you see on our designers' personal sites may be used as a reference (*not* duplicated), but these will be done at the discretion of the designer. We will put the page on a server of our choice and do monthly updates for you, or we can do a one-time job on a server of your choice and let you make all future modifications.	GRAPHICS Here are some graphics we will do for your zine or zine site. Other requests will need to be addressed separately. However, cartoon dolls in large quantities will not be done. Banners, Buttons, BackgroundsAnimated or nonanimated, in gif or jpg format, best for an existing zine site. Award GraphicsGood for contests, season awards, acknowledging staff, members, etc.	ADVERTISING Since we don't have any sort of a newsletter or update system, we can only rely on web advertising. We will register your zine with the Shining Light Zine Circle and list it as a sponsored member. There will also be awards your zine can win, and award winners will be announced here. In addition, we will set up a message board for your zine's use at the Shining Light Ultraboard at Home Page Tools.
To be considered for sponsorship, you must submit your zine to Shining Light by sending two editions (in separate emails) to [email protected]. The subject *must* begin with Sponsoring - ZINE NAME. Then add issue numbers or parts whatever.

RULES We are a "free" service, meaning no money involved. However, in exchange for our help, you must include our ad (or link) in all of your newsletters, updates, etc. Also, your zine content must be less than PG-13.

LIMITATIONS We will try our best to make you want you want, but please note that we are doing this as volunteers, so nothing overburdening. Generally, we can do things similar to what you see on our sites, but no duplications.
