Aishiteru - Chapter 2 - Letting it all out
James drove Kaze to the lake right after class. They found a private spot on a rock overlooking the entire lake. Kaze looked around, then at James. She avoided his eyes, when she spoke. "Do you swear not to say anything?" He gave her a stern look. "You've know me for fourteen years, and you still don't know that I 'd rather die than betray you?" "I'm sorry," she muttered. "I'm just not ready for a lot of people to know what happened. "Is it really that bad?" Kaze dropped her head. "To me, it is the worst thing that could possibly happen." A tear ran down her cheek. James wiped it away. "Just let it all out," he said soothingly. Kaze nodded. "Three months ago, Kyoshi and I wanted to go to 'Kyoku', that new Japanese dance club in the city. He picked me up and we went..." Lights were flashing all around them as they walked up to the door. Kaze was wearing a low-cut, bell sleeve shirt and a short leather skirt. Her hair was elegantly curled to suit her face and her make-up was exquisitly done. Kyoshi wore a blue, silk club shirt with a picture of a dragon on it, khaki cargo pants, and an awkward smile. His hair shaped his face perfectly. "...techno music filled our ears as we danced..." The floor lit up with strobe lights and disco balls as the beat hit everyone's feet. Kyoshi led Kaze as they danced until they were exhausted. "...on our way home, we stopped to eat..." They approached a cute little diner on the highway between Kingston and home. They sat in a tiny booth together and got lost in each other's eyes. "...he took me home around midnight..." Kaze kissed Kyoshi in the porch light. She grabbed his hand as he began to walk away and reluctantly let go when he left her reach. "...I watched him get into his car and began to pull out..." Kyoshi walked slowly to his car, his hair blowing in the gentle wind. He got into his car, waved, and put it into gear. "...I could hear a truck speeding along just as Kyoshi was pulling into the street..." A large toyota truck came speeding along on the wrong side of the road. Kaze screamed to Kyoshi to move. "...and the next thing I saw was the truck smash head on into his car..." Glass was flying everywhere and shards of it hit Kaze as she ran toward the smashed car. "...I tried to get in to him, but I couldn't..." Kaze tried to open the door, but it was stuck. Inside, Kyoshi was impaled with glass and God only knows what else. "...I called 911 and tried to keep him awake..." Kaze took out her cell phone hurridly, and called for help. After she was done, she told Kyoshi how much she loved him and that she couldn't lose him. "...his last words to me were: 'Kaze-chan, I am so glad you said that. I love you, too. But, I am tired now. I must go. Good-bye, Kaze-chan'. I will never forget them..." Kyoshi looked into her eyes as she spoke and as he replied to her. His face was bloody and his mouth barely moved when he spoke. He gasped for breath with every word and looked so peaceful when he slipped off. "...when rescuers finally got there, he was gone and I had take notice that the boys in the truck were passed out. The rescuers question me about what happened..." Kaze sat near the car, unable to do anything but stare. A police officer helped her up so they could remove Kyoshi from the car. He made her tell him everything that had happened. She cried hysterically because of the harsh reality. "...they took the boys into custody. All of them were fourteen and younger. Non knew how to drive and all of them were drunk." She paused, looked into the water, and decided to not hold back her tears any longer. She sobbed into her hands about a minute before James pulled her closer to him... ~!END OF SAMPLE!~
Authors note: This book was written as a graduation project and is not very long. If you really like this portion, gimme a shout and I'll post the rest of it. But I really have to have more than one person yelling at me to do it... Also, this book was written based upon my life. None of these events ever happened, however, the feelings that are associated with everything that happens in the book have been felt by me at one time or another. The book starts with trouble and the ending points in the direction of resolution. That's exactly what my life was doing as of the completion of this project.
