Dedicated to Fadime Sahindal
IMPORTANT
NOTES: This is just a short one-shot, a ficlet. The reason I'm writing
this when I have other series to write on, is this:
January the 21: st is exactly one year ago a woman called Fadime Sahindal
(26 years old) was murdered by her family. I'm not sure if this is known
anywhere else than in Sweden, but I just felt for writing something
in her honour. Anyway, in Sweden it is very well-known, Fadime and her
family were immigrants from Kurdistan, and they lived in Sweden for
a while. The family (especially her father and brothers) disliked the
fact that Fadime had a Swedish boyfriend, and they threatened and assaulted
her. The day when Fadime was going to move and stay with her boyfriend,
he died in a car- accident and left her. Still, she went on with her
life. Then, January the 21 year 2002, she was shot by her father, and
the murder upset everyone in Sweden. I'd like to say that not the whole
family agreed to the murder, Fadime's sisters for example, were very
shocked.
Tick-tock-tick-tock..
Heero lay in the bed, listening to the clock as the seconds ticked away
that became past instead of present time. The spot beside him, where
his boyfriend usually lay, was empty and cold, and Heero felt as if
their bed had grown much bigger without Duo's presence.
Tick-tock-tick-tock..
The mission had been an easy one, so where was the braided pilot?
Tick-tock-tick-tock..
It couldn't be..?
Tick-tock-tick-tock..
No, impossible. But Heero told himself that it was impossible.
Tick-tock-tick-tock..
It was useless to stay in bed so Heero threw the covers away as he sat
up. He then scratched his head in a way you only do when you're very
sleepy, but still, he couldn't fall into the dark, nice state of unawareness.
Slightly puffy, blue eyes glanced towards the small clock and Heero
frowned when he saw that it was already past three in the morning.
Tick-tock-tick-tock..
He stood up and fled out of his and his lover's bedroom, down the stairs,
away from the never-ending sound of the clock. He stopped when he saw
Wufei sitting by the table in the kitchen, asleep, and with his head
resting on the yellow pages in an old Chinese book.
Heero studied Wufei's face for a moment, and then, as if the black-haired
boy could feel himself being watched, he woke up and yawned confusedly.
Heero wasn't sure how anyone could yawn confusedly, but it was something
written in the other boy's face that gave him an air of bewilderment.
"Yuy?"
Heero made his way to the table, and he sat down beside his friend and
team- mate. "What are you doing up, Wufei?"
"Fell asleep while reading." Wufei yawned as he spoke, thus, the words
said were slightly muffled. He rubbed his eyes and yawned again before
continuing. "What are you doing up, then?"
Heero fiddled with the wide sleeve on his blue, and slightly too big
pajamas-jacket. It was a present from Relena, and he was just glad that
it wasn't covered in teddy-bears or something like that. It was too
big though, Heero was bigger and more adult in her childish eyes. "Duo's
late." He said, quietly.
The Chinese boy blinked a couple of times, but Heero couldn't tell if
it was out of surprise or from the tiredness. Then, he burst out laughing.
"Yuy, don't worry about him! Knowing Maxwell, he's probably painting
Nataku pink before.. going.. home.." Wufei fell silent and he looked
worried. Not about Duo though, only about his poor gundam.
Both boys sat in silence for a while before Wufei stood up and walked
to the door. He took his coat and put it on before opening it.
Heero looked at him, surprise showing in his eyes. "Where are you going?"
"Nataku." Was all he said. Then the other boy closed the door behind
him, and he was gone.
The Japanese boy stared at the door for a while, and suddenly it opened
again, and he saw his beloved one standing outside.
Duo looked fine, just very, very tired. He yawned as Heero stood up
and rushed towards him. Before Heero hugged him though, the Japanese
boy asked.
"Are you okay?"
"I will be when you finally hug me." Came the reply and Heero happily
complied. He held the slightly smaller boy tight to his chest and he
felt Duo's breaths become slower and slower, almost as if he had fallen
asleep. The braided boy hadn't, though, because after a while, he spoke
up.
"Were you waiting for me, Heero?"
"Yes."
"Why?"
Heero's arm tightened even more around the thin body. "I was worried."
Duo laughed softly, and Heero felt the other boy's shoulder shake slightly.
"You didn't have too. It was just a routine-mission. I wasn't even close
to any danger."
"So?"
Sigh. "You're hopeless."
"I know."
They stayed in each other's embrace for a while, before Duo, once again,
broke the silence. "Heero?"
"Yes?"
"Wonder if Wufei like yellow."
"Why?"
"I decided not to use the pink paint. It felt too cliché."
Heero laughed.
