Coffee Break by Maaya

“Tell me again why we are drinking this stuff.”
Wufei stared down into the black liquid in his mug with an expression
near complete disdain in his otherwise noble lines. Duo was only too
happy to reply.
“Because we are in a coffee shop, waiting for the clock to
hit eleven.” He grinned and took another sip of his much lighter
drink. “And this is the best way of keeping alive until then.”
“It’s disgusting.”
“Wufei.” Heero took a moment to add his two cents, mockingly
scolding tone evident in his smooth tenor. “You have yourself
and yourself only to blame. You let Duo order for you.”
“Hey!” The braided boy’s voice was indignant. “Don’t
blame me!”
“I didn’t.”
“Yes, you did!”
“No.”
“Yes . . . .well, maybe not.”
Wufei sighed and took another sip from his mug, letting the warm
air hit the surface and go back into his face again. Then, he took
a hold of Duo’s momentarily put away mug from the table and
stole a taste from it.
“Hey, that’s my coffee!” Duo yelped and reached
after his stolen mug. “It’s not honourable to steal, ‘Fei!”
Said Chinese young man snorted. “Not honourable to order inedible
things for lovers either.” He took another sip and smiled slightly.
“This is almost good.”
“Of course it’s good! It’s Irish Cream with extra
sugar.” Duo huffed. “I didn’t know you had a sweet
tooth.”
The smile turned enigmatic. “There’s much you don’t
know about me . . .”
“Oh no!” The braided boy grabbed his heart in mock horror
and sighed dramatically. “Don’t tell me you’re Zorro
on your free time.”
“Isn’t gundam pilot enough for you?”
Duo huffed again and went back to try to retrieve his stolen coffee
mug from the evil Chinese boy’s clutches. “Hey, Heero!
Give me a hand, pleeeaseee?”
“Your wish is my command.”
Pause.
“Uhh, Heero? You were going to take my coffee back, not make
out with the thief . . .”
“What. . . ? Oh, yeah – here.” Heero tried to take
the mug, but Wufei gripped it closer to his chest, clearly defensive.
“Mine.”
Duo stared with a strange glint in his eyes. “Oh God, you’ve
been around me too much.”
“Any objections?”
“Oh, no, not at all.”
“I have.” Heero grabbed Wufei’s black ponytail
with one hand and the long chestnut braid belonging to Duo with his
other.
“Ow!”
“Let go!”
“Same personality – same treatment. Come here.”
He tugged at Duo’s braid, indicating to the smaller boy to sit
in his lap.
“Why don’t I get the same offer?” Wufei wondered,
mockingly hurt tone in his voice.
“You’re too heavy.”
“I’m not.”
“Shut up and drink your coffee now, ‘Fei.” Duo
snuggled closer to his bigger lover’s chest.
“It’s your coffee . . .”
